WOW Rae, That is sad for those peeps.
When that happens, the person with the accidental Cornish X wants to keep them past their processing date. They are told to not try and then others pop in with try they have seen it work. They point them to beekissed's article about free ranging them.

It is very sad! Depending on which version of Cronish X they have, there is very little chance of them making it past a year old

I usually tag @Molpet to give them a balanced view.

Rae I often wonder if they really don't know or if they're just trying to sell the birds.

I wonder that too. :hmm

When I got my bitty birds this year.....
That farm store has meat birds VERY clearly marked and segregated from the layers. The staff handling that area was very clear with folks about them being meat birds too.
I would but there again just because they take such good care of not only the birds but the people.

I think your farm store is one of the rare gems.

Beekissed butchered hers as intended and didn't keep any to winter. she did white rocks from a breeder next and I think her flock still has a lot of wr

my bigbox farm store was telling people bbb turkeys were wild turkeys (which you need a license for in my state) the catalog they had you could look through said they were meat turkeys though

I think it has a lot to do with local population and background. My feed store out in the sticks is excellent, but everyone working there has raised birds at one time or another. TSC in town hires city kids who have never been near birds.
