Official Squatch Watchers

It hatched late Monday! I left it in the incubator with a few others until they were all running around. Put it under a heat plate, it comes out and starts screaming bloody murder. I lowered the heat plate, put it back. Quiet for a bit then the screaming starts again. I go look and it’s standing in front of the plate screaming. Has nutri-drench water that I’ve seen it drink. Goes under the plate for a bit then walks out and the screaming begins. With me and the heating pad is the quietest it’s been. :th

I am hoping you both made it through the night.

I am SURE you have other chicks in with it. Does it ever snuggle in with them?

Good morning peeps! Got up early to wish our company a safe trip and they had just left!:barnie
My latest hatch is 2 Turkey poults. I put them in with chicks that are at least a week old, and those chicks were just too rough. So chicks went into a empty quail cage with a lamp. I went out late last night to check on them and they were fine. But another brooder had blown the light bulb , so I was glad I went out! :love
In other news, our company from Canada went home just before I got up at 7:15 am. Sigh.

I give mine mashed boiled egg with chick starter crumbled on top, and they just flake out after that! Peaceful!

Bright side, pulling a bug nursery off her fanny did get her to stay off the nest so they did do something good.
I'm glad it isn't mites at least, i'm still itching reguardless and iv'e got to redo the big nest.
Not going bug crazy, i'm going to check butts, but iv'e got a sneaking suspicion it is just her....the three or four other times leads me in that direction. All winter with 0 bugs sheeze thanks Lu.:hmm

Omg, lice butt is back on the nest! Really? She hates kids, has a small city on her butt and she's back on the nest?
She's crazy, the hormones have eaten her brains. It is almost warm enough to yank her out and flood the city maybe it will sort her out a little but i'm not holding my breath.:th

So I was worried about putting the baby back in the incubator. If its pooping in there, then cooking bacteria, and I can't really leave water as will just turn to humidity. So the Special Needs Unit was brought upstairs to my bedroom.

That's a bus tub with shelf liner in the bottom for extra grip. There is a silkie with curled toes in there. (Tried shoes and it pulled them off.) Covered the whole thing with a t-shirt and then a box lid to keep the cats out.

This little stinker is the gangliest bird. Looks like it has some ostrich in it or something. Also has parrot tendencies. Likes to nuzzle and squawk until I feed it. So that's a gallon water jug lid with nutri-drench water mixed with baby bird food mix.

I noticed it doesn't have a big yolk belly and its crop was empty. So feeding it seems to shut it up. Then I pop it under the heat plate and cross my fingers.

Third resident is another assisted hatch baby. I noticed it wasn't getting around great... splay leg. Caught that this morning so hopefully not to late. Got the rubberband through a straw treatment and of course baby bird food.

Wow, Nunny you really have the whole shabang going on!
Is that gangly chick the one that wouldn't shut up last night?

Last night, all night, this morning....

I'm so tired. LOL At 3 am there was a ruckus in there and I moved 2 companion chicks to the basement. Fed the screamer and put it back to bed. It was so quiet this morning I thought it must have died despite my efforts.

(Of course after all this care and attention it will be a boy.)
