Official Squatch Watchers

Well, I just put two roosters I had brine-ing overnight to boil with carrots, onion and celery. We should have some nice broth by dinner time and some chicken to turn into a meal. I'm going to save this broth to combine with the bone broth I'll be making over the weekend, plain bone broth doesn't have enough flavor. We are out of our broth concentrate (we boil 3-4 gallons of broth to fit in two quart jars, which is great to add as flavor to meals). Fortunately, I have 8 carcasses in the freezer (plus the 2 cooking now) that I need to turn into broth.

This is why I love it that I have to drive to see my closest neighbor.

You are SO LUCKY!!!

At least my neighbors are all animal people and half of have (or had) chickens. :) That is the next best thing, I guess.

Our nearest neighbors are about 1/8th of a mile away. I know one of them had chickens last year that free ranged. So they don't mind our birds. The others don't care as long as we keep our birds out of their bird feeders. Last winter, we had 3-4 roosters that were free ranging that liked to raid their bird feeder. That is one of about 5 different reasons they don't free range anymore.

There certainly are days I wish I had cashed in the retirement savings to buy some land in TN.

It was a nice piece of land at 23 acres with 3 ponds, flight pens for peacocks, electric, septic, storm cellar, and a house that needed knocked down.

::: SIGH :::

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've been lurking in this thread since I was searching online for sasquatch statues. :)

I have about 13 girls, variety pack of EE, Buff Orp, Leghorns and maybe a few other things. One polish roo and a bunch of coturnix quail.
:frowHey there!
Welcome to our flock within a flock. The more the merrier.

We don't bite!
Although some people are quick with that smacking emoji, but just in a joking way.
