Good luck! I hope the painting is easy for you. Any idea when you'll finally get to close?

Oh, that's horrible. All the more reason to put up siding when possible.
My role is mostly supervisory. I am painting the frames of the screens, enforcing clean-up, that kind of thing. We hired a friend who needs the work for the most of it. Looks like we bought too much paint, so I'm thinking of using any extra on the kitchen ceiling where it has a big patch. Close is scheduled for July 11, so far so good.:fl

Not much longer! This is a nice place to vent, my little paint problem doesn't hold a candle to waiting for Thing2! And trapping a huge old coon while doing that! Best Wishes for a good delivery.:)
My DH and FIL did the trapping and taking care of the coon. I used we in the collective sense. I haven't done much with my birds, except the guinea keets in a while.

Thanks Deb!

I came home to find my Marans with the crop issue dead. And something is clearly wrong with Jr. If he is at rest the back of his comb is black. During the day when he’s moving around it’s red but at night after roost and when he first gets up it doesn’t look good.
The first time I saw it like that was only yesterday. Makes me think something is wrong with his heart but it sounded ok to me. He is very thin as well.

:hitAll around:hit
Sorry you lost one. Hope your guy picks up. I noticed the combs on the CCL are a bit pale. Time to deworm maybe. They have been getting lots of nutritious treats, so that's not it.

The person on BYC that had the issue with lead chips had the paint chipping off of the outside of the house. The lead gets into the soil so to get rid of the problem, the pain has to be removed from the house and soil removed then either gravel or new soil moved in.

In my signature there is a link to the egg study thread I started. The results of lead in the eggs at my place is there. I do not have a list of labs, but eggs can be sent in for testing
Yes, there is probably some chips we will miss, but after we get closed and moved in, this little guesthouse, an old bunkhouse, will need to be completely painted and some windows that are being painted will be replaced. We want to make it an AirBnB so it needs to be better than what we are doing now. It is a shame to have to repeat work, but got to comply to get the loan. We want to put a nice flagstone patio in front where most of the paint chips could be. That will involve digging up about 4" of the dirt there now, then 2" of sand, the flagstone on top. No paint-chip contaminated dirt will be accessible after that. The planned chickens are not getting access to the guest house, they will be on the other side of the yard!

My chickens refuse to eat baked beans!
Parrots eat anything, just for fun. Preferred: electric cords, molding & trim including window sills. They chew the bars of their cages, so no galvanized wires. You have to combine baby-proofing with puppy-proofing to have parrots. Dylan will not get to visit the guest house, needless to say!
