These birds are nuts today.
Rene is semi broody so she's screaming at everybody that gets too close or she gets too close to.
She's also molty, and it is patchy so she looks crazy too.
She is not a popular girl out there right now.
She's still cute somehow, but man that crazy is really obvious when they molt.:D

Oh dear!
I blew up the pic. That is serious craaaazy eye.

Yep, can't do a thing with her today she is out there lol!
I just put her children in the coop to eat had everybody but Stacey then I see her lagging behind so I wait.
Stacey stops right in front of the door on the step, puffs up, chest high butt low and just laid a little egg....then went to go eat.
So Stacey is a woman and i'm sore from laughing.:gig

Soooooo after much deliberation about making salsa.....I won't.
Salsa accompanies tacos or tortilla chips so yeah to tempting to carb up. :(

I will freeze the peppers for use in chili this winter instead.

Fixin to peel potatoes to go with the roast. Yeah....more carbs. I am doing well on portion control so should be ok.
I really like Huevos Rancheros, eggs & salsa. Tortillas are optional! home-grown, home-made salsa is one of the great pleasures in life, IMHO, lol! Jar it up in small jars, just one serving ~4 oz jam jar?

I went ahead and canned my tiny harvest for soups. It was the worst harvest of tomatoes I have ever had. :(

:fl For next year.

I will amend the soil this fall in hopes of a better year to come.
I noticed there is a giant crack in the clay behind my saddest tomato.
Must add organics!

I will see what I can come up with for leaves from neighbors.......

If it makes you feel better I only got three useable tomatoes this year.
Splits, worms, chickens, turtles took the rest.
Put Rene on the meanie roost tonight Marlene, Susan, Hobo and little crazy eyes on the very end.
Even Hobo is giving her space lol!
Hobo is a happy girl, she's getting to block that little rooster.
She stops him more than the actual rooster, love that hen she's awful! :p

AW dang! You have to many harvest helpers. :(

My little Dip has roosting issues. :hmm
Twice now I have had to remove her from the wide open window outside in the run.
We will see how tonight goes with that window mostly closed. :lau

I watched from the house while a very very confused Dip bounced from the seat of their chair to the back looking wildly for that ledge she just KNOWS is there somewhere. After a solid 20 minutes she settled for the back of the chair. :hmm

Putting Dip in the house was.....entertaining.

The dogs headed out to the kennel and I went to the coop. The porch light woke Dip as expected.
The plan....
Grab Dip, carry around to the coop, place on proper roost...goodnight.
The reality....
Enter run, Dip screams and hides under the chair. Three tries to grab the screamer and I decide to open the pop door to shoo her in.
Yeah that didn't go as planned either.
She runs shrieking everywhere BUT through the door.
I managed to grab her.:yesss:
Carried around to the roost while still protesting loudly.
Dot....sweet little Dot....upset by her sisters freak out had gone OUT the pop door. :hmm
Luckily she has one more brick in the wagon than Dip. When I went BACK in the run she went inside.
So much drama.
Door is closed, Dip and Dot are with an also upset Bitty. Stink eye expected for tomorrow.

The big house?
Walk in, turn on light, count birds, lift feeder, get eggs out from under broody butts, say goodnight, light off, done.
No drama, no screaming, no fuss. Sooooo boring. :lau

Edited because autocorrect is a freaking comedian!
