Your birds get an eyeful! Put some dang clothes on Bob before your knees get frostbite.:p

You got a lot of mouths to feed Henny, i'd be tempted to just get troughs for everybody.:D
I tried replacing nest hay and failed more miserably than usual.
I got my step ladder, hay and myself and climed into the coop.
Within two minuites I had so much company, girls eating the hay, roosters making goofy noises and nests in my pile.
I just shucked it in there, they'll sort it out.
I had too many chicken butts in my face to stick around and do it proper.:barnie
I always just toss straw down in the general area of where I want it b/c they HAVE to dig through it so there's not point laying it out nice. It's nice that they spread it out, but they are jerks and always kick it into the water.

My pup just threw up a whole bunch of crud, she eats every darned thing.
I hope she's ok now.

Ok so 1am and a huge pile of bloody puke later I am totally freaked out.

Total food refusal, even chicken and rice refused. That was earlier this evening.

Now she is moving in slow motion like she is in a lot of pain.

Emergency vet thinks she will be ok until regular vet opens.....I am not so sure.

I am sitting up with her. Any southward turn and we are going to the emergency clinic.
Oh no! I hope it's nothing major. Could she have eaten something she shouldn't have?

So very sorry about Ash. But, it is good that you have a nice neighbor who is concerned and helped you look for the others.
I was outside screaming "Olive!" like a lunatic. He probably thought I'd lost a child or a dog. Nope, the poor guy walked into a crazy chicken lady story complete with a corpse and incoherent wailing.

Ash was murdered yesterday afternoon by a hawk. I had the day off so I went over to let the chickens out. I went inside to check the sd card for the trail cam and when I came back out a hawk had killed ash. Everyone but William was missing. The neighbor guy heard me yelling and came over to help look for them. We walked all through the woods and found nothing. He went to check his woods and the ravine. While he was gone Nibbler came out from under a truck. When I got back from getting the girls Derek had found 5 more that came from the woods. Several more followed leaving only Damon missing. We search the woods for about 1/2 an hour and as we were giving up and heading back to the coop my nephew yelled that Damon had come back. IDK if she was in the woods too, or if she was hiding somewhere by the coop, but as it got dark they all headed back to the coop. So everyone is alive & safe except Ash (as of last night. I'm going at lunch to check on everyone). We buried her w the others we lost this year. Idgaf if the hawk was hungry and just doing what animals do, I hope that hawk dies. After I'd scooped their poop and changed the water I closed the door to the coop b/c it was getting cold and I wanted to keep the heat in. Based on the feather spread Ash tried to escape, but wasn't able to. IDK if I'd left the door open if she'd have been able to go in there and hide or if the hawk would have followed her (and possibly the others). My kids are devastated & I feel horrible. Ash was one of our favorites. When I talked to the neighbor guy (in between my sobbing) he said the guy across from him has chickens too and a fox keeps killing them. I assume that's the fox I saw on the camera. I told him about the coyote and the raccoons I've been seeing on the cam. Typically I don't leave them out alone, or if I do it's not for very long. I was inside for maybe 20 minutes. Never would I have expected this to happen. I won't be letting them out again this fall & if I do I'm going to stay outside the entire time, but I don't plan on letting them out since it's snowing now.
So sorry about Ash :hugs:hugs

OMG! I am so sorry! :hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

Tilly, not ok. 4 hours ago I got her into the emergency clinic.
Literally on deaths doorstep.
She is pouring blood out both ends now. They have her on heavy iv fluids 4+ liters so far into her.
Meds have been given, X-Ray taken etc etc etc.

She swallowed a rock at some point BUT that is not the cause of the blood. When I left to come home they were getting ready to try and draw more blood.
More X-Rays to be taken by day staff.
My poor girl!!!

She is hanging on.....barely. :hit

Nothing more I can do except keep authorizing tests and treatments.

So far $2,000. I don't give a tater about the $. I want her to be ok. :fl

I had a hawk attack when I was 200 ft away
I did scare it off and after 6 months living in a parrot cage in the living room, she was well enough to go back to the coop

Sorry for your loss. I had my favorite Polish pullet carried off screaming , I was only feet away. I tried to pursue on the Mule, but lost the hawk in the woods. Broke my heart. That was back in TN.

No.

When I say deaths doorstep yeah for reals that bad.

They are doing everything they can. I know many people would say let her go.......I cannot look in her eyes and ignore that plea for help.

I also know where there is life there will be death.....I just hope for more life for her.
