The suggestion is to use a lower cost version of spinosad monthly for a while. I would need to take out a loan to buy elektor!
Luckily I know other chicken people in the area and we share chicken products. Since most stuff comes in sizes meant for cows there is always plenty to go around.

I hope all goes well Rae.

Good morning Hope and Rae I'm hoping MD settles down for you Rae.:fl
Hello again folks! I had a very productive morning. I got the Milk Drinker back to sleep shortly after my last message and got another 40 min of sleep myself. Thing 1 woke up at 6:15 and I was able to get him on the potty before the Milk Drinker woke up again. I got all ready to go, I put a load of dishes in the dishwasher (usually DHs job but he still has a fever and feels like crap) because we were all out of spoons and most bowls. I boxed up the cull hens, took the boys to my parents and we got there 5 min after
I said we would. It took 1.5 hours to do the first pig and an hour to do the second. It was muddy and rainy but their setup worked well and it was easier than doing them here. They have a cool house set up and we’ll be letting the meat hang for a week before we cut up the halves. They are going to be doing their own steers in a bit so I offered to come back and help with that for the experience. They have an interesting setup and TONS of animals. I think we found some good people. They were hoping to get plugged into the homesteading community when they moved out here 4 years ago but they haven’t really found anyone. They have a neighbor that was breeding rabbits for meat but wouldn’t help butcher because he didn’t want to cut his fingers because he plays guitar (not professionally or anything, just enough to make his own vanity albums). I helped with the skinning and some of the gutting on both pigs. It was much easier than chickens.

When I got back, the Milk Drinker was happily playing and didn’t make a single fuss for my mom the entire time we were gone. We got lunch, I got both boys in bed and now I’m heading to take a bath.

All in all, a good morning. I just wish DH would get better. I think he has the flu.

No kidding! She is super touchy about them, got the skittles pecked out of me messing with them.

Nice! Im all for the leg weapons if they come with a good side.
Im not seeing any hidden good stuff out of her though.

So cute! How do you stand it Cappy? :)
I just keep most of them!:lau

Good work Rae. Hope hubby feels better soon.
We got the furniture rearranged, and the fish tank is now on the stand! Now if I can get the gravel washed, I can put it in on top of the undergravel filter. :wee

Wow.
I thought the heat pump was going kaput, but no.....
Just trips.:barnie

Glad you found them
Prayers DH feels better soon and you don't get it
Happy anniversary

I think the day finally caught up to the Milk Drinker. He was perfectly happy until the end of dinner and over 5 min he went from mild whining because I was eating a carrot and he didn’t have one to a full blown meltdown. I put him in the bath and he had an even bigger meltdown. I’m now nursing him to sleep. Hopefully I can get him down so I can do some work in the kitchen before I need to put Thing 1 in the tub. Maybe I could have DH roll his desk chair into the bathroom to watch T1 bathe while I work on the kitchen. The logistics are all off because DH is sick.
