Thanks, me too. I put so much money and effort into getting these birds and setting them up. Even if i wanted to get more birds after these are gone, i wouldn't be able to use the coop for a very long time. It really stinks. I was in denial for a long time. Now it is mostly sadness and shock.
On a positive note, i painted 2 walls of the goat shed indoors and painted the edges of the other 2 walls. Just needs roller work now.

You have me laughing. I haven't looked but I suspect there are SPN farms in VA that are working on Dels. I'm working on improving all of my birds, but it's a chore. My latest challenge is the prettiest rooster on the farm is a mutt. no good for breeding. He's huge and beautiful but not a pure breed. Every day I delay processing cause I want to find an excuse to keep him.

I know there are a few BYCers who maintain flocks with Mereks. I wonder if you could get advice from them. I can’t remember who they are though. They are working to breed for hardiness against Mereks.

Not Mereks, i read it can last years in the soil.

From everything I’ve read Mereks is VERY persistant. You pretty much have to burn down all your chicken structures because it is transmitted though chicken dander.

Yeah, i knew that. I will cry if i have to burn that coop. I worked so hard on it. Cedar siding an all. Life sucks.

That’s the first one I’ve made. Well a chicken. I’m not the best at sizing...so I’ll find out if it fits next week. LOL

I want one to wear myself. If you ever make another one I will buy it from you.
