I have 2 idiot pullets.
Yes it is the Derp girls.

I caught them both billing out about 3# of feed from the freshly filled feeder yesterday.

I am not very happy about it at all.

I don't care for the no plastic as he bucket feeders since there are bantams in the flock too. I would have to have it low to the ground for them but higher for the big birds.......maybe with 2 ports low and 2 high it could work......

Thinking of making a feeder to fit between the wall studs. Shaped like a rabbit feeder but running dowels front to back to limit the side swooping of feed.....

This morning Cinders (6 year old dark brahma) is having troubles.
She is dragging the top of her foot along the ground as she tries to walk. No bumbles or obvious injury so nerve issues are likely. Poor girl.

I set food and water next to her so she need not go far. At her age I don't think there is much "fixing" that can be done.
I have a couple who do that. Not all the time, but they swoop it onto the floor, like they're looking for something. I keep everything in the same feed can so sometimes scratch will fall into the feed so I get that SOMETIMES there's treats in there, but is it really necessary to throw it all on the floor?! SMH.
I hope Cinders feels better. Jackie had a foot issue & it magically cleared up on it's own after a few months. Everything looked fine but she had a limp. I assume that since she's a tubby butt she probably jumped off something & twisted it. She did the lying down to eat thing for a while, but got better eventually.

@21hens-incharge Do you think a drop foot splint would work? Basically it would go from the lower leg to the length of the foot, either on the top, but preferably on the bottom. It would be a 90 degree angle, and can easily be padded with a could layers of fleece. You can use very wrap and tape to secure it. Leave the toes free so it's easier for her to adapt unless those are affected as well.

It is worth a try for sure. I found my wide tongue depressers...I have fleece and vet wrap.
I will have to cut her leg feathers short or make them lay flat to try it.

I may have a metal finger splint.....that could be easily formed to fit.

She needed a boost to the roost last night and then help off it this morning. I won't boost her up again since she cannot get down on her own.

I will have to wait til my son is home for help holding her.

Well my chewy box came and the FedEx man officially hates me lol!
108 lbs of derp chow he had to carry, if looks could kill id have a bunch of derpy orphans.
I got 50 lbs of 17% layer, 50 lbs of 5 grain scratch and 8 lbs of suet nuggets.

Just one humongous bag.

Oh, and I shouldn't have said a word about the Trips going to bed so easy that one day because I had to bread them into the run tonight.
Seriously, I just toss bread bites in the direction I need them to go im guilty of fake tossing like you'd do playing fetch with a dog it works so well "also the reason I deserved that Kim bite" lol!

Anyhow, look at this face my empty hand gets.
