Official Squatch Watchers

I just like the skin. If you process them at the right time, it is not to bad to pluck them. It is the pin feathers that cause the most work. Pekin ducks (which is what I had) are so fast growing, that they go past the right time before you know it. 7 or 8 weeks is all they take. Duck skin roasted in a hot oven is worth the effort, to me!

These are welsh harlequin....so smaller but still eatable if the need arises.

Um, Chooky iv'e seen it at 3 weeks lol!
My gosh that swiffer booty!:gig
Hansel is only seven weeks. Probably I am reading too much into it but he really seems to be making some new noises lately. And at least once I caught him squeaking in front of the girls while holding something without eating it :idunno

For @Parront This was Hansel at 6 weeks

They are probably bigger than a leghorn, which are fine on the BBQ. Are they good layers?

They are said to be 5# when grown and are reported to lay close to 300 eggs a year. I would put that in the excellent layer catagory.

Woah was I busy today! Channeled more Squatcher energy for sure. Got the run on the medium coop together. Cause I had birds that needed it....

Met a friend out at a Silkie farm last night. They lady is downsizing her breeding to focus on other colors. Between us we bought almost every bird she had for sale.

These four came home with me. The little grey in the front is spoken for.

This is Sunny! She is a frizzle silkie x oegb mix. She is the cutest little stinker. I couldn't resist her.

This handsome feather duster doesn't have a name yet. He is a Creole Satin Frizzle. The colors and markings on him are just amazing. (Cause I needed another rooster) Yes he is facing the camera, I'm pretty sure....🤣

And the basement flock. Pinky is Definitely a boy! Those waddles dropped the other day. Still just love him.

Then there are Swedish Flowers, some Americaunas, Brains butt is in that picture. They move so fast I can hardly get photos.

I need to get the small coop together so it can be for grow outs. My basement smells like chickens.

I need to mow my lawn still. Maybe when I get home from work.....:tongue by far my least favorite chore.

You have an amazing assortment of birds!

That fuzz ball....oh my gosh!

Iv'e had a funky day, the roosters decided to be anti ponytail today so numerous stink eyes were thrown my way.
I had to take the dumb thing down before they would go roost.
I promise you roosters are reincarnated b*tchy old men, no convincing me otherwise lol!
Oh and I did P90 X with hubs and loudly split my pants.
I just threw my hands up said "this really does build muscle" did a Hulk Hogan pose and walked away. :)

Sooo how early to cockerel's start exhibiting flock leader behaviors like tidbitting and other calls? Hansel has started making this hilariously awful squeak that I think might be a treat call :th
Robinson (my lonely chick) is now 4.5 weeks. Ever since I moved him out to the phase 2 brooder (about 3 weeks old), he's been shepherding and guarding the younger chicks. None of them like me very much but he stands between me and the rest of the chicks until they are well away and then he watches me until I get too close. :lau Like the cute little bugger could do anything about me. Oh he's also tried to fight the guineas. They come by every now and then trying to figure out how to get into the pen and into their feeder. He thrashes at the fencing to chase them away. They ignore the little twerp, but it is so cute.

I need to get more pics of Robinson. His legs are as thick as my thumbs now. Thicker than the legs of my adult lightweight layers if you can believe it. He's going to be a massive brute!
