No such thing! What if you have a causality? Better get 2 so they will have a friend. Maybe you need some pretty eggs! (Besides the practical production girls);)

Yup was told to get 2. :lau

I always do as I am told.....especially if it's something I want to do anyway.

So. You all know I have 14 quail. Well they are laying now and I was thinking. You know what? I bet they will winter over better if there are more of them so huddle up. So I decided I'd incubate some of my eggs. They grow fast after all. Then I was thinking. You know what I should order a few more also because I'd like more of the standard color. (I think I'm going to slowly move over to just the normal color since they are much easier to sex)
So I ordered 20 and got 34 lol
Also have 11 of my own so... 45 going into the incubator. Lol 😂😂😂
Sounds like quail math is even worse than chicken math!

A few have expressed concern regarding the rat bait I suggested. As I said previously, it's not a one bite. They have to eat the bait for several days, to get enough into their system, at a steady rate, for it to do anything. It's not exactly a poison, but rather an anticoagulant (blood thinner). When I bait, I do look for the dead ones, and bury them. I do know a hawk that did eat a dead rat, when I was trying to get it buried. It flew right next to me, and scooped it up, as I was digging the hole. It's still around, and still fine. If they ate several of the rats, for several days in a row, it might be enough to affect them, but it's doubtful. Rats carry a lot of parasites, and diseases. I'd rather not have them in my coop, which is why I occasionally bait them. My chickens won't eat the dead rats, so that's not a problem. Pinkies they'll eat. I'm not sure about mice. I never see any mice. Just rats, at times. Some years seem to be worse than others. I don't just toss poison out, and forget about it.

So glad to hear you’re doing much better!
Well, they’ll certainly be warm :D
Good thing I still don’t have an incubator or I’d be doing the same thing :gig
Maybe I should do some more nightime shopping 🤔🤭🤫
I doubt hubs will notice

I need a small miracle lol.
A shop close to here is selling chicken feed for roughly half what im paying now.
The miracle is if these spoiled brats will eat it.
Iv'e got to go through two bags of bluebonnet first which they've also never had but costs less than kalmbach which has gone up.
I looked up the maker, they seem legit.

Too bad you don’t have actual hogs. There’s only one option with a fairly decent price. Lol!

Their feed seems pricey to me, but I shop at Rural King. $9.99 for 50 lbs, $8.99 when they put it on sale.
I’ve heard rumors there’s one of those around here, but sightings are rare, and apparently so is their stock. The two people who I know that have been there say they are almost always out of stock of whatever they want.

I haven’t tried this yet, but a friend suggested to fill a 5 gal bucket about 2/3 full with water and put sunflower seeds in it, just enough to float on top, and add a ramp. This way they go to get the seeds and fall in and drown. This was for chipmunks, but I don’t see why it couldn’t work for mice. Rats? Probably not seeing as they can swim pretty well.
