How big is too big for the holes in wire fencing? After doing a quick inventory of my stock, I realize I don’t have enough 1x2 welded wire and will have to use 2x4 welded wire. This is for their enclosed run (chicken jail ).

Where on the run are you wanting to use it?

Do not use window screen on top. Even 1" grid will catch snow and sag. ....ask me how I know....

That’s kinda what I figured. I’m out of 1/2” and will have to get more. I also thought of regular window screen over top. Either the aluminum or petproof stuff, but that costs as much fencing!
I got my best deal on HW cloth at amazon and with prime, shipping was free. Best I could find around here was 2' tall and 10' long.

No! We already put 1/2” on the top 🤦‍♀️ why didn’t I think of that:he

Given where you live.......and it being a pain in the butt to pull off......I would still pull it off. It can take down the whole structure when it gets snow loaded.

What are the dimensions of your run?

8x16. Sigh. I guess I know what I’ll be doing next week. I’m going to put up the 2x4 around the sides with some other layer I can scrounge up for now though.
Thank you so much for the reminder!
Speaking of snow, it sounds like you have some headed your way very soon.

I thought it looked like 8x16 but didn't want to assume.

Might look into cattle panels....you would need 2 so about $50. Take the 1/2" wire off, put cattle panels on then add wire of your choice above. Personally I would use cheaper chicken wire on top unless you have TONS of determined raccoons. Plumbers strap works well to secure cattle panels.

Still would not want a lot of snow sitting on it but the cattle panels would help with sag.

I got a few projects mostly done today. 😂
I've had fabric to make curtains since I moved in and hadn't done it. Then yesterday found cute fabric for my back door. (I have a habit of stripping my chore clothes in the laundry room. But that means I walk by my back door in my underwear, maybe)
Sooo....

Free fabric for bathroom curtain. (I still haven't gotten all the wallpaper down.)

My very retro kitchen fabric! Also free. This is as wide as it comes so I want to add strips of color down each side.

Back door....clearly not long enough. LOL So again I'm going to add but to the bottom. Need to pick that up but I got curtains sewn!

In prep for me he coming freeze all veggies are picked. Corn is processed and in the freezer as are bell peppers.

I am a bit sad that I had to pick the pablanos early. They will still be yummy just smaller than I like. I see chili rellenos in the future.....

The jalapenos can be frozen whole.

The painting will be tomorrow morning. It is WAY to smoky and hot right now.

I love your fabrics! So cute. You can just lower the curtain rod on your back door so you have light and privacy. Not that you need privacy ;);)

You’re good! Lol!
Hadn’t thought of cattle panels. I’ll look into those. Now that I’m taking the 1/2” down, I suddenly have more of it to run around the sides. :gig

Good idea on moving the rod for Nunny.

I am not good.....I AM cheap. That hardware cloth is pricy....use it where it matters most. ;)
