Official Squatch Watchers

Afternoon folks, it was cold enough here that the hose froze overnight. We'll have to get some quick disconnects to make sure that doesn't happen again. I also wanted to get the RV hoses that look like normal hoses when full of water but when the pressure is released they squeeze flat to push all the water out. I remember we had a couple of hoses like that when my family went out to the grand canyon in a trailer the summer of 2000. Apparently they don't make hoses like that anymore. Bummer. It's warmed up quickly though.

Unexpectedly, DH didn't have to work last night. Two more covid positive students were supposed to move into the quarantine dorm yesterday, but they opted to spend out their quarantine at home. This was really nice because I've been having to get up with the boys every morning no matter how bad of a night I had because DH wasn't getting in bed until 1am and he goes downhill quick if he doesn't at least get 6-7 hours of sleep a night. Well, he was able to get to sleep by 10:30 last night and got up with Thing 2 at 6:45. I had to work late last night and got to bed by 11:30. After DH took Thing 2, I went back to sleep and woke up at 10am. I guess I needed the rest. I'm feeling a lot better but still have an annoying cough. It seems like everyone else in the family has the cold as well but I got it the worst.

We moved chickens this morning because the ground where they were was getting stinky. I'll have to pare down my numbers and get a winter setup going for them soon. I'm hoping to find a processor to take them to so I don't have to do it. My morning sickness is all but gone but I'm still feeling squeamish about processing them.

Well technically these are dual purpose birds, just im a vegetarian and hubs knows better than to eat the pets which is what the egg layers are.
Prince and Jerry are just manly hens so I count them too. 😋
Only fat chickens we've had were the meat birds 😉

Ok, so I ordered my usb lights for the coop I got two 50led strings which should be plenty since those suckers throw out some light.
I did make sure they'll run off a power pack like you charge phones, with, iv'e already got a solar one I really never use so yay!
I tested it with my bedroom usb lights and it works great, how long they'll run on a charge is something i'll check too.
So anyone without coop power like myself it looks like this is a decent cheap, safe lighting option.:)

I have one coop without internal lighting. Can you post a link to what you chose please?

In summer the flood light shines in the south window.....winter that tinted window is shut so it gets DARK in there.

Sure, I got these because they have a timer function too and that is always a good thing.
Usb lights
Just so you know, one remote will work both strings and the usb has a manual on/off button too.

Cool! Thanks for the link.

It is getting cool out there!
I tried to spray foam some holes and cracks after I put everybody to bed but.....the can of spray foam broke.
Yep, I broke a can did not even know that was possible but I did it.

Not sure how you did it either.

Hubs had to go tow a car out of the danger zone a little while ago. Carter lake is where it was. That is 6 miles from here. He said he could see the flames on the next hill over.
That means the fire made another big run toward us.

Do you have evacuation plans?
