You can always dust a little talcum powder on the sticky spots. That won't remove the goo, but with help stop it from being sticky.

My friends husband came by and said it should be good enough to paint over with a couple of layers of kilz. He does floors for a living and has for nearly forty years. For some reason I feel it necessary to say this every time I mention Im having my friends husband do the floor instead of some company

This spring I plan to take a week off work and do some flooring replacement here.
