Wow. I haven’t been around since the beginning of November when we had that boar turn up unexpectedly.

Well, as i said, we did the first 10 of the 23 Cornish X we got around Thanksgiving. It was a fricken disaster. I forgot that I wanted to order a cone big enough for CX, but I didn’t. It made it so much harder to bleed them out. My brother wanted to try chopping heads but didn’t have the stomach for it and my mom wasn’t around to the the primary throat slitter. Because I had to run back and forth to slit throats and eviscerate, it took about 3.5 hours to do 10 birds. Half of the birds also dislocated one or both their wings in their death throes without a cone. I also cut myself with my knife twice. I healed up alright.

Fortunately, even with the brutal cold, we didn’t lose any birds between the two butcherings. Today was much better. I bought a cone, I won’t do a butcher day again without a throat slitter. We did 13 birds in 2.5 hours. We did have one bird that took a very long time to completely die. It was ginormous. He was just over 8lbs. He was the size of a small Turkey. The smallest bird was 4.6lbs. They were all pretty nice sized.

Hi everybody :frow

i had to bite the bullet and buy a car :hit Ive been wanting to, but just teally liked my old car and hate shopping. So im saying goodbye to Ol Blue and hello to New Blue. I had a torrent and now have a tucson. Ive been really stressed out the last few days i guess. I just havent really left the couch at all. I can only assume its stress. im just tired.

We also had to get a new (to us) car, van to be precise. The minivan worked, but the kids were all crammed in so close together and were constantly messing with each other. Our mechanic had this 12 passenger van he bought off the food bank that he was fixing up yo sell. It was a good deal. We’re able to put all the kids in the car with a space between them. It is wonderful! We call it the Paddy Wagon because before it was owned by the food bank, it was owned by the state penitentiary and was used for prisoner transport. It’s a 2010 GMC Savana with 113k miles on it. It’s bare bones, but still in great shape. We kept our minivan because, sometimes, we need two vehicles. We’re having to go through and buy duplicate car seats to make things easier but it will work fine for us for the next few years. We’ll save up and get something more modern with head rests on the seats as this one doesn’t have them and it isn’t really safe to have kids without high back boosters in it.

Yes very stressful vehicle shopping
2018 I started looking for a new truck..... still haven't found a half ton, Chev work truck, regular cab, 8ft bed with snow plow or sp package . They all are extended or crew cab with a ton of extras that go bad and no plow package.
I guess the contractors snap them up
Have you thought of ordering one? You can play around on their website and build your own or contact a dealer.

Mine isnt new either, just new to me. I bought new once, dont plan on doing that again. They lose so much value in just the first year. Nice van! My grandparents had a setup like this cuz grandpa would accumulate kids for church. 🤣
not sure how that worked back then and def dont think itd work now a days for sure! Those poor kids. The parents have to be willing to make the necessary changes and sometimes it just doesnt happen.

Oh. We also still have the foster boys. It is looking less and less like they will be reunified with their parents with everything that has happened and is happening. But, it’s still early days. The boys have only been in foster care for 4 months at this point.
You're in my prayers 🙏

I have looked at the website, pre covid, and done a search for local dealers with what I built. In the past I could get a better price on what was on the lot than ordering one. The 2008 I have now was one of several sitting on the local lot with snowplows end of October. Last 4 years they haven't had any regular cab on the lot. Theory is population growth and urban type people who want a fancy truck as a status symbol. Lots of farms have become intermodal or big houses. About 4 miles away oneside of the road is Joliet and there's an intermodal on what was a farm field 2 yrs ago. The other side is New Lenox and 500k homes going up on what was a farm field 3 yrs ago.
