Official Squatch Watchers

Happy Hump Day all!

I did the AIP Protocol... pretty much the same thing I believe.

Sensitive to wheat, casein and nightshades (like maters).

The newly hatched BEANS flock is at 11. Hatched 12 eggs but the taterholes pecked one to death and pecked a hole into a pipping egg, and that egg quit. 2 eggs left in the brooder, but we're gonna candle them tonight to see if there's any movement. If not, then we'll be the 11 Beanies.

It's not too windy for the cold today... and seems partly sunny... but I have no motivation at all. Ugh.
I would think they would be the Tater flock after killing off their flock mate!
Morning Smuv!

I was going to the chiropractor and mentioned I was getting old and waking up with all my joints hurting.. I was thinking arthritis... she said that and my nasal congestion sounded like a food intolerance .. my insurance paid for the blood work testing.. so I figured what the tater...
Fabulous idea. My MD sent me to an ENT for ear pain and sinus drainage, ENT said I have LPR (silent reflux). I may check that out.

We'd already named them the Beans before they killed off the little one... We're gonna name one of them Tater though.

I wish Raes MD would feel better..... PIC keeps having a fever off and on... not sure if it's another growth spurt or if he's sick.... yeesh... it's getting tiresome... LMAO

UPS was just here!!! :wee Got the aqua heater in, gonna get it set up today....

They be messin with my math!!

Seriously they are wonderful people and have great birds. I am sure they have several hatcheries they deal with.

I want blue Australorp!!

Apryl,
The frost could be from moisture escaping the bedding/any droppings that are there. I would not worry to much.

I would put a couple holes in that coop on the tall side just below the roof. The higher the better.

In the pic of Odin.... Is his comb always that close to the roof? A bit worrisome since there isn't room for moisture to rise much if at all.

He has super long wattles oh dear.
Oh good. Less to worry about. I'm going to add some adjustable vents in the front when it gets warmer. The front of the coop is 9' tall and slopes down to 5' in the back & it's at least 1-2 feed off the ground. I'm not brave enough to climb up there to cut a hole right now.

Odin's no where near the roof of the coop. I put him in a small section outside the coop that was covered w/ a tarp b/c something happened and he started bleeding from some tail feathers and then the girls wouldn't leave his tail alone. I tried putting him back in when they healed but they went right back for his tail again. Even after all the feathers grew back they again went for his tail. When it started to get cold and tatery out I built him a section in the coop and gave him the front run to frolic in. Inside the actual coop he has a 2x4x2 section, then I built a section outside the coop in the run that doubled his 'inside' space. His food and water is in the inside space and the outer space gives him some room to wander around. He's about 18" tall, he's standing on his roost in the pic, when he's on the floor he has a bit more head room. I'm probably going to have to buy/ build him his own coop later on. I had planned on letting him mingle w/ the girls during the winter since I'm the only one who goes in there, but they won't leave him alone. I hoped that having him in the small section would help the girls get used to him being inside and that he could be let lose, but that didn't work. They're all just a bunch of tatering taters.

Wow... that's a good hatch, for sure! Taters and beans... that actually sounds kind of good.

How old is PIC? My giant human got mono one spring when she was 12. GIANT lump on her neck (I might have freaked out a bit)... fever, miserable and sick... apparently she and her friends were constantly sharing drinks/ food. (and still do..) SMH...

Ugh, they are saying snow today! One more cup of tea and i am going out there to check the critters. Really, i am. Hubby got the dog all charged up and she head butted him and split his lip. I keep telling him and he does it anyway. Maybe he will learn something. But then he is a kid at heart...

PIC is 8.5... and we home school AND live out in da country... so, no *friends* except the neighbor... he is 11 and we see him maybe once every few weeks. PIC gets a fever with every growth spurt...... which is every few months it seems... poor thing had a QUICK booty growth..... baby has serious stretch marks right under his butt cheeks on his legs.... trying to put cream on it and he smacks me away.... shakes his big old booty in my face and then runs squealing with laughter... little tater!!!

Makes sense! And he looks pretty darn good so far. I don't see any frosted bits so it must be working.
Would be nice if the ladies would behave but then that would mean something went right. They always find a way to challenge us.

Your coop is tall. I wouldn't want to be on a ladder in the weather you have either.
Since everyone is healthy it is certainly something that can wait.

I feel guilty. My weather turned good. I have windows open on my coops. Got the kennel cleaned and going to clean the big coop soon.

I need Sam's giggling emogi!!

I bet he's growing again. Maybe going to shoot upward like a beanstalk.

I remember those spurts with my son. Hard to keep clothes on them. What fits today won't in a week.

::: sigh ::: good times.
