That was heartbreaking.
I know. 11 hens. I am just so sad for them. It is one thing when it is out of your control, but to know their death was at your hands (they didn’t know and I didn’t know) will bring an extra heavy heart. There will be countless chickens saved because of this incident, including mine.

I got to get busy. I took down my tress, but they everything is in the foyer to be taken upstairs. I took the day off to watch Hallmark, play Words with Friends and stalk BYC. I got some things done, but not overly productive.

Everyone survived the night! 14* was the high and low temp for the night. Considering it was in the negatives last night 14* is pretty good. Supposed to warmer today, 23*, so I may adjust the timer so they don’t get too warm.
Never thought I’d say 23* could be too warm.
It is bad when 23 is good, especially for AL! Hahaha!

Oooh, not liking morning . Need to get up and have brekkie.

Me either...So freaking cold!!! I was so scared I was gonna awake to dead, frozen chickens and I didn't hear my cockerel crowing...but they are all alive!

Poor babies...I made the pilgrimage to the closest TSC yesterday and bought chicken goodies: A bale of straw (first time using it, to bulk up the coops), more feed, scratch, mealies (they have a good sale on them going right now!), pine shavings, and Blue-Kote (just in case, ya know, the BBC with the frostbite).

I love TSC. I can't wait till they open the new one by us.(the outside is completed!)

Boy, I live an exciting life these days. :)

The Partridge Silkie was the last one out this morning, not the usual first. She is just sitting. Ate a couple bites of scratch, but didn’t come to me as usual. Something is going on, but no clue what it is or how I can help. It sucks because she is friendliest out of the 5 Silkies.
Have they been dewormed? How is their poop?
