I'm down to just one girl laying. 1 is broody and 4 are molting.
Ugh.

That's okay 25 chickens 3 r roosters 5 r to young and I am getting 3 to 6 a day

Good to know you know what you are getting into. Here the frozen water bottles in winter and heat in summer made it no fun for anyone.

We generally have a nice breeze here. But i am used to cold from years past, lived in NY, NS, and TN. I will give them unbreakable water dishes. I may even put them in the goat shed.

Yup! Actually canned mackerel. Canned salmon here is nealy as expensive as crab meat. A tuna can size is 4 bucks last time I looked. The first year of their lives the feed was 80% whole corn and 20% layer pellets. The cheapest they could get too. Walking into where they were housed the mice were literally running up my legs.

No to mention the poo, dirty water and flies.

Disgusting.

I always build a wooden box covered with hardware cloth for heat lamps.

I been thinking of @Rubysword and Jammer all day. Poor chickie under the weather and Ruby not feeling well either.

It was in the mid 50's today supposed to get into the high 30's low 40's tonight. I love this weather
