Official Squatch Watchers

Good morning. The milk drinker is back to sleep. I was able to suction enough out of his nose so he could nurse and fall back to sleep. Poor thing, its so sad to watch him try to nurse while he's only half awake only to start gasping a second to two later because he can't breathe through his nose while nursing.

Is this going to be your grad student's first Christmas away from home?

I don't know when that Frieda snot sucker came on the market. I think they came to the us via Europe.
I don't remember ever hearing about them when my milk drinkers were babies, until they'd all weaned.
If I'd known about them then I would have bought one for sure! I remember the misery of them being all clogged up with boogers, sucking a few times, then gasping for air. I hope your little guy gets over this germ soon.

Yes!
I'm sad and will miss her but I'm happy for her at the same time.
Her BF is an awesome young man, and hit the ground running after they graduated last spring. He got a job in his chosen field (the one all that college tuition paid for) which is film editing, in the town he wanted to break into that field, Los Angeles!
He is very talented and driven but still knows how to have fun. They complement each other -dare I say?-perfectly.
He only has 3 days off from work which didn't warrant the cost of a plane ticket home to NC , BUT she's on Christmas break for a few weeks, so this made the most financial sense. We split her airfare 3 ways.
They are going to have a wonderful 2 weeks together.
They've been planning the meals they're going to cook together for months!

Oh yes, the NoseFrida was at the top of my "doctor mom" kit list I had on my baby registry along with a stethoscope and otoscope (ear looker thingy). It is a godsend. I actually ran out and bought one at 2am when I was on a business trip with DH and MD in tow. I had left the Dr Mom kit at home and MD just happened to get really sick. He was crying and trying to nurse but couldn't because of the snot and was so upset. He hates the thing, but it make our lives easier.

I try to ride out illnesses if we can. He hasn't been on antibiotics since the first week of his life (for meconium aspiration). He's had a few colds and fevers, but has always had a healthy appetite (for milk at least) while he's been sick.

That's really nice for your daughter. I still haven't spent a Christmas away from my parents yet. I've done Thanksgivings away. The first one of those was just before DH and I got engaged.

Stacey- that is so sweet I threw up in my mouth a little ;)

Red- hope the snottiness passes. Babies sound miserable when stopped up.

Dermatologist appt today and pick up my son’s bike for Christmas. I will go ahead and isolate those mini pre-roosters this morning. I tell them to straighten up or I will snap a neck, but my threats fall on deaf ears. When I pick them up the gray one will baby talk me, but the white one remains silent. Punk! Boys being boys.

Hey everybody. I have to take a break from byc for a month, bc my parents think I've been spending too much time on here. See you on the 18th of January!
We'll miss you Ruby!
I hope you and your family (and your chickens) have a wonderful Holiday, see you in the new year!
