Oh okay I know someone that mixes wax with coconut oil and that is what they use. The wax hardens and helps the coconut stay on longer

Sorry to hear about your chicken's comb but I know you will take amazing care of her. She is lucky to have you.
. No really, I had to! There was no other way. That stupid evergreen tree might as well be fort knox it is so wide and bushy and dense ugh. So I climbed the tree and started grabbing squatches. It was kind like picking apples.... angry, shrieking, flapping apples. Pretty sure the neighbors hate me now. But I plucked them off their branches one at a time and passed em down to hubby to put in the run or dog crates. Got scraped up, pooped on, and covered in twigs (hence the glorious selfie) but it was worth it! 11 squatches caught! The last three (1 pullet 2 hens) were too high up for me to get. Pick up by their new owners is tomorrow so for now the quest continues.
Just put more bedding and pdz on there, it will be fine.Christmas eve it started snowing and only one cockerel was brave enough to go out in it... well his dad had something to do with getting the obnoxious teenager out of the house
Dad is 1/2 CX and the cold doesn't agree with him so he isn't chasing the son
getting to be a bit messy in that 8x8 hoop coop w/17 chickens in it
one good thing about below zero weather at least they are not getting all messed up.. the deep litter is not working to well in that coop w/too many birds.
The thanksgiving brood is in a hoop coop that gets more sun... their horizontal nipple water is brought out about 9 am and stays usable until 3:30, if the sun is out...they go to bed about 4 so that is working out...
Since Christmas only the turkeys have gone more than 3' from the coops doors...
The idea is cool bellies lead to non broodiness. The warmer she is, the more she will want to brood.
His comb is worse. The last 2 whitish points are fluid filled. The other boy's poor comb tips are hard and the edges of both their waddles are hard and cold. I don't know what to do for them. They've been getting bag balmed.... maybe I'll try coconut oil cause it could be a little healing too. 
They're trying to tell you that there isn't enough shavings on the floor.Went to put some new shavings in the nests and de ice the water and like the big dummy i am left my bag of shavings unattended. One day I'll learn, just obviously not today.
That's about what Odin and Willie's combs look like. Damn this freeze. I know it happens and people are like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I don't see where frostbite is ok or acceptable in any creature. I'm not sure what to do about it either. I've been bag balming mine too. I saw a post where someone made a hat! Cute idea, but IDK if mine would accept it and if others wouldn't go after it. Plus it wouldn't help for Odin's waddles.. it'd end up looking like a bra or a cup depending on if you keep the waddles together or separate. AND he'd still get it in his water.No garage to put her in. Basement is as warm as the house and full of coal dust so that's a no go. She feels like a little furnace when I touch her belly. Wish she would share that heat with some of the others. I did notice my smaller Wheaten (who is not my smallest chicken) was huddled in there with her. Saw her shiver a little. Her molt was rough on her so I'm wondering if she just isn't bouncing back with this taters weather.
