Well, I finally started up the wood stove. Woke up this morning and it was bouncing between 1 and -1, got up to 32 and is now 17. Time for supplemental heat. I normally don't start the wood stove until Feb 15. Smuv you can have your tatery cold back:he I don't want it.

Folks, this is insane. My IL cockerels have huge combs and waddles and no signs of frostbite. They are the first to go out foraging in the morning and last to go in. I was planning on covering the CP shelters with greenhouse film in early feb, but this cold snap has me reconsidering. First thing in the am after sun rises the turkeys are all out. chickens and ducks look at me with stink eye. And they generally wander out by 10ish. Then they forage all day. They don't seem to be bothered by the unusually cold temps.

I guess your humidity level is pretty spot on for nobody to have any frostbite, you're lucking out.:)
