The Partridge Silkie was the last one out this morning, not the usual first. She is just sitting. Ate a couple bites of scratch, but didn’t come to me as usual. Something is going on, but no clue what it is or how I can help. It sucks because she is friendliest out of the 5 Silkies.
Sitting, like how?
What position/posture?
Check her eyes, nose , crop, belly, vent.

They will pull through it Stacey. :hugs

I hope they don't give up on their rooster. They need big gals to be able to withstand such a big rooster.
I wish I knew which hatchery my gigantic blue Cochin's came from. They are taller then my Brahma.
Did you buy them from TSC? You could ask at the store where they got them. I’m in the market for blue Cochins. I want some girls for my big black Cochin Roo. He and his progeny seem to Ben handling the cold best.

This is were Suzi and I have both gotten birds. Great place. Not sure if she ships eggs or if you’re interested in driving but I thought I’d share.

Have they been dewormed? How is their poop?

Not dewormed. Her crop was empty before bedtime, so i brought her inside. She ate, drank, poop looked good. She visibly looks great. She is standing here, because I interrupted the pile, but she looks like this only sitting. When I pick her up to snuggle and pet, she doesn’t resist at all and closes her eyes for the loving, no matter how long I hold her. Not typical

No I have a really great local feed store that orders from tons of places including specialized breeders.
They sell about 10,000 chicks a year. :th

The reds came from a big hatchery as did the barnevelder but the Brahma were locally hatched last year. No real way of chasing it down since they get the same breeds/colors both local and hatchery.
Really good quality blues though.

I can call them to see if they are willing to share info on good places to get really big blues.

I would deworm them.

Me either...So freaking cold!!! I was so scared I was gonna awake to dead, frozen chickens and I didn't hear my cockerel crowing...but they are all alive!

Poor babies...I made the pilgrimage to the closest TSC yesterday and bought chicken goodies: A bale of straw (first time using it, to bulk up the coops), more feed, scratch, mealies (they have a good sale on them going right now!), pine shavings, and Blue-Kote (just in case, ya know, the BBC with the frostbite).

I love TSC. I can't wait till they open the new one by us.(the outside is completed!)

Boy, I live an exciting life these days. :)
I want a TSC :hit:rant I heard we were going to get one, but must have been a rumor. Since we have 2, within 15-20 minutes on each end of the town, I doubt we will get one.

Sassy,
Is she eating this morning?
Any change in her crop? Full, empty?
She ate a couple of bites this morning. Her crop is empty. She ate a little bit before bedtime last night, but not enough to fill it up.
I wonder if she has belly pain since she doesn’t seem to want to move. She ate and drank last night and then went to sleep with her head above the food bowl.
