But not until they are in overwhelming numbers I think. You should be able to see them in the poo
They attach themselves to the tracheae and clog it up.

Glad they figured out what's wrong... finally! Hope you feel better soon. On the positive side, We'll keep you company for the next three days!Just got back from another ER visit. Have the flu. I'm gonna miss 3 days of school, and three pretty important days too. Oh well. At least I won't get my friends sick.
Are they getting enough heatSo, we culled Tiny. S/he was just in too much suffering to keep on trying.... you could tell. Thirteen is hanging in there though. S/he keeps laying down on their side though.... gets really quiet and kind of twiterry chirps... then quiet.... 20 minutes later, Thirteen pops up on it's feet and chirps away, walking around.... it's just SO weird!
Edit to Add: DH culled Tiny. It was weird, kind of surreal to me. When we first got chickens, I told DH that we would be culling them... and he was ADAMANT about the fact that HE would not be participating in the culling step. He'd help with everything else, but not culling. So, stepping up and taking care of Tiny was a really huge deal.
Yes but some of them pass and should be visibleBut not until they are in overwhelming numbers I think.

Thanks for the offer. If I lived near you I'd come play with that little MD all dang day so you could sleep.
I'm a young grandma wanna-be. On New Year's Eve I was in VA and always sleep at a friend's house rather than (ewh) at my son's bachelor pad. Lol.
I think part of the problem is their food intake. They are staying in their coops all day (not foraging) and often their hot mash freezes before they get to eat it.I hope so too
Maybe some sand or small bits of granite would help them digest it betterThanks for the offer.
I do have plenty of nearby relief if I need it. DH took him when he woke around 7:30 this morning and let me sleep until 9:45. He'll do this most mornings if I don't have to start wor early or he didn't have a bad night. I try to nap when MD does (when work allows me) if I had (or MD gave me) a bad night. My in-laws live with us and can spell me and DH for a while, but they aren't in the best of heath and he wears them oit quickly. My parents live next door and will watch him for us for a few hours at a time.

There is a trailer, maybe 2 miles down the road our lane is off of that has an old panel van in the front yard with a tree about 6inches in diameter growing on each side of it. I'll have to get a picture of it sometime.I kept driving past this school bus with a tree growing up in it, so i took a picture. Been there a while i guess.View attachment 1230298
