They live a long time because they freeze solid in winter and thaw out in spring. Use less feed that way too.

Hibernating chooks. Great for the feed bill, I tell ya.

SO cute!! I haven't hatched a thing since last May and it's killing me. Just a few more months before it gets a tidge warmer... then I can fill the incubator again.

That totally taters Rae. Hopefully the reason he had the cockerel was because it had done it's job and was protecting the rest of the flock. I hope everyone else is ok.

Oh sweet fried taters, no.

This is one of my 14-ish week old BSL cockerels not my avatar. I would have completely lost my taters if he got my avatar. This guy was destined for freezer camp in a few weeks.
