Official Squatch Watchers

Gorgeous! I used to have an egg basket like that... SIGH. You southerners make me awful jealous this time of year. Maybe it's time to become a snowbird, eh?
Sure be glad to have you only thing is you have to leave your bag milk and eh's behind

Says the ones that think milk, a refrigerated product, is a good thing to buy before ice storms! :plbb

I admit we might be a tad heat sensitive, but youall would die if you did chook chores in 0° weather without a coat.
Possibly! My wife thinks I'm crazy because I go out back to work the fluffy butts in nothing but a house robe and flip flops even when it's 20 out

Hey hon,I'm so truly sorry about your little birdie baby. I know all those feelings way too well. Probably not the best time, or it maybe the absolute best time who knows? If you ever have to do that again, and i hope you don't helium is a very peaceful way to do it. A balloon filling tank, a hose ,and a container with a couple little holes at the top.Same outcome, less traumatic. :hugs

Did you ever do it that way, with helium? Or know anybody who has? That sounds way less traumatic.

I was just texting with a friend who is a vet tech who has chickens. She works at an emergency vet hospital. It's about half an hour away though. BUt that is an option.

Here is something happy! As I have been Ms. Gloom and Doom lately (sorry).

This is my first green egg, which I got today, just kinda plopped in the middle of my coop, lol. It's a pretty sagey green color! The beer can is for scale (it's not a giant Coors can, just a normal sized one, they're smallish eggs, lol).

For such a big chicken (my Favaucana) it's a pretty small egg! The other ones are Silkie and/or Cemani eggs. I guess the Derp Berry part of her is what accounts for the size, lol!

Hey y'all sounds like ups and downs in here. Hubby is feeling better not 100 percent but getting there. I read someosomeone lost a feathered family member, sorry for your loss. I remember the 1st time I had my fur baby put down. I held her so close to me,well the vet injected her. My heart broke, I'm crying as I text this, you never get over it. This is going years back & still it tears me up. I can't pathom what you're going through. I know how I felt, lots of love to you :hugs

So pretty! Can you post a picture of your Favaucana? I have a 9 week old one.

YAY! My chicks aren't as dumb as I thought they were. I just went back out to check on them because the temp is dropping and I saw 5 little black heads pop out from under the heater as I opened the door. Chicken Surprise was the last to come out. They may just be smart enough to survive. I'll go out and check on them after dark to see if the lesson stuck.
