Official Squatch Watchers

Man, when you sleep in until noon the day flies by! Took care of the animals , uncovered the plants, painted the wood for the cage, cut hardware cloth and attached to the cage. Only a few more steps to do once the paint dries. Also cleaned out the wood stove and vacuumed the carpet. Now i plan to unbox the table saw and assemble it! :woot

Does this look right for application amount??

I don't want to poison my birds by using to much.

Thanks CSA! That helps, knowing teaspoon measurements is easier for me.

OK so I will segregate Windy and get nutri drench into her.......and any others with a heavy load.

The day has slipped away on me so I will get er done tomorrow. I can clear the coop while it is still chilly out then play a rousing game of catch that chicken. Woot for having a net handy!

Windy will get crated tonight while on roost......might be able to spray everyone then too depending on temps.

Ya'll are awesome!!

So Folly’s place (starter of this amazing thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/permethrin-spray.1134783/ ) said the manufacturer recommendations were for for .5 ounces (1 table spoon) of spray per bird. But Folly used less and found it very effective. She treated at night while they were roosting. Lightly spraying their backs then spraying upwards onto their vents.

I basically did what that video showed (I only have six chickens and could only treat during the daytime because of weather) but I was more liberal with the sprayer. Because Cochins. I saturated the vent area, then sprayed neck, shoulders, and under each wing. The excess just ran off onto the ground though so I don’t think the fact that I was generous will hurt them. And a tablespoon is actually a lot come to think of it. Not sure even I used that much

ETA : now might be a good time to use a chicken hook!

I used an "ironing spray bottle" to spray everything. It's like a cleaning spray bottle with the adjustable nozzle. I tried to fluff everyone's feathers and spray under them. Used my hand to get around the face and neck. Then the coop and anyone who wouldn't be caught got the stream spray. Could shoot them in the butt from farther away. :p

Thanks guys! You do know it helps to have this Squatch support group.
:hugs

My son dug the transport crate out for me so that helped a ton!
I have cleaned out a spray bottle that was used with a mild dish detergent and water. (Replaced water heater. Bought to check for gas leaks.)

Tomorrow will be all about die bug die.

Thank you everyone :hugs My poor bubbie looks like she is auditioning to be Smuv’s avatar :sick It is nice to hear it might not be totally my fault. Now if only there were a card or gift I could buy that says “I am sorry I sprayed cold water up your bum” maybe my flock might forgive me :lau
Stay warm and safe everyone!

PS @Smuvers Farm I won’t find out for at least another week how the exam went.... but I am feeling optimistic :thumbsup
