Every penny counts for her right now.
I did something similar when a coworker was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Donated all my unused vacation when he was diagnosed and when Jan 1 hit I donated that entire year worth too. It did not fix things but hopefully it took some worry off. It came to 7 weeks total. Not even a drop in the bucket as to the expenses but mattered enough to me to do it.

Have a bear sighting here and there around me. Luckily I've never seen tracks, let alone that close to my birdies.

Only got the one egg today but I'll take it. It had clearly been pushed around the box so other girls must have checked it out. Hopefully they will make a deposit in the next few days.

Have an appointment to see a house tomorrow. It was listed and the price dropped in a few days. No pictures have been put up so I have no idea what the inside looks like. Has had one owner so I'm hoping it needs some cosmetic updating and that's it. Then the question of if I can bring my chickens needs answered. Zoning here is hit or miss. I swear they put a map up and threw darts to decide.

I love my sweet, giving friends.

New additions below. When I got home from picking up son from school, there was A LOT of hen chatter going on!!! Buffy (BC) is instigating a lot of fighting through the fence. She is the mean one to the Youngens. Taterhead! The Newbies fluff up like peacocks at the little doggies. SMH. The Newbies are so gentle and seem to have a good personality.
And Yeti and hearts in his eyes at first glance!
