Good Morning....I'm a little worried this morning. Ester my Bluebar wouldn't come out of the coop this morning. She is always the first one out. She layed a soft shelled egg yesterday on the coop floor. She has been laying for about a month and this is the second soft shelled egg. They have both been elongated with a small hole at the tip. She seemed fine yesterday.......My DH will check on her at lunch as I will be at work all day ( 30 minutes away). Maybe she is going to lay another egg and that is why she didn't come out?
Keep us updated!

@Suzi18 , You said she's been laying for about a month.
Is that in total (because she's a pullet) or is that post winter/molt?

Could be possible that she hasn't gotten the hang of eating the oyster shell I'm sure you're providing...
Yes in total. She is about 7 months old and yes she always has access to oyster shell. I'm probably over reacting but she is always the first one to come out and is always chatty and happy. She did talk to me when I stroked her.

Good morning everyone, wet and rainy day here. How's everyone doing? Good luck with your exam!!

My roos are in separate areas except for the bantam and he doesn't count the only girl he gets is the bantam hen sometimes one of the big girls let him play but only if the big rooster is out in the field

I wish I had a better chicken set up. I became an accidental chicken keeper so was not prepared like I thought I was. When moving plans are closer I’m going to start a thread about coops. I’m not sure if I’ll have to retro fit or start from scratch. But I want to ask people what they like and don’t like about their own set up. Living with it shows how well it works. (Or doesn’t)

I’m guessing it’s a glitch. I’d keep an eye on her. A tums at lunch might help.
