hens have an extra layer of fat.. thats how they can survive being broody for weeksSo....... I have a question for those that have processed laying hens........
Today I went to put the wyandotte that had not been laying into the crock pot.
She had a lot of fat!!! I ended up skinning in order to cook.
None of the others have had a fat layer like that. Seriously fat was 1/8" thick on the breast and 1/2" on the back.
Just an oddity or perhaps to many treats?
Have you ever seen mongeese? They are snake killers! They are NOT ferrets... they are monGOOSIES.
I am pretty safe. Had one sip when i was maybe 8 years old.All coffee.
You kept that schmaltz yes?!?
Wonder if it was her added layer of heat. If her feathers were more fuzzy then feathery maybe she needed it for extra warmth. ????She was way fattier then the others I have done. Just weird.
She also didn't have real feathers more of just fuzzy all over.
I guess I shouldn't worry to much unless I find more super fat like her.
