You know you can ask us questions about building it right?

Even technical questions.

Oh and graph paper is your best friend!
Make a plan, stick to the plan.

Buy materials carefully so no waste and do please ask if you have questions.

An example of careful buying......
Home depot shed siding $35 a 4x8 sheet.
Construction and over buy reseller near me $7 a sheet. Sure some had edge damage but I picked through with an employees help to find several undamaged sheets.

A gallon of paint at Home Depot about 30 bucks.
A gallon of oops paint at home depot 9 bucks.
I have gotten some great colors that way.

Yes plus I'm thinking predators, rats, snakes, lizards, shade isn't a problem
My original run was 16x4x6 with 4 regular hens, and they needed more room. My coop is 6x4x6 and was more than enough room. Where we are, invest more thought in a larger run, because that is where they will spend most of their time, especially if you can cover it. That is just my opinion.

Hello everyone!

I've been MIA today because I had church this morning and around 1:30-2:00pm, the power went out and didn't come back on until an hour ago (8pm). Hopefully, I can get to bed soon. I was up until 2:30am, got up at 7:30 for church, and the Milk Drinker woke me up every hour in between (or so it felt like).

Right now, the Milk Drinker is asleep but still nursing. He must be having a funny dream because he keeps giggling in his sleep.... while nursing.

Oh wow I love that ok that's the better way to go. I was just thinking cost factor, but when you put it that way ok, thank you :D
We built one similar and I bet we spent $700 easy, but it is rock solid. Since you don’t have chicks now, you have time to look and price around. I have a 2x6 prefab run I bought for some ducks that I rescued, and it is wobbly as all get out. There are all kinds of ideas to make secure coops without breaking the bank. The good thing is, you have time.

Guess who laid her first egg today
