My parents' Cockapoo-Dachshund does that to hunt voles.

We had a foster shi-tzu that didn't know what to do with a dog treat.
He would insist on going outside with it, squeeze through the kennel gate and bury them using his nose in my garden.

I actually put a rug over it and moved the bed!
