Give it a go with cutting back treats and feeding back egg shells. If it helps then you will know.

Side note..... My birds refused to touch the manna pro brand oyster shell. I use pacific pearl brand and they do use that one. It actually looks like tiny shells instead of crushed dry wall.

Congrats on the bunnies Cap. Our Mollies multiply like rabbits! I had to flush a majority of them and I tried to keep only one sex. I think there maybe a female or two, but couldn’t catch any of the remaining and they look like boys.

My quail hutch is almost done. I stapled on the last bit of wire tonight and painted the inside of the roof white. One little piece of plywood on the back where i pieced the plywood, and i can tack on the roof!
I bought some 1" x1" wire to build a carrying cage to hold multiple bunnies when i go to swaps. I had a commercial cage to carry bunnies but someone got rid of it! Grrr.

Ok.....ill cut back on the greens but Im still confused. If they were free ranging all day wouldnt they eat a LOT more greens and berries and bugs etc. ?

It could be a glitchy gal.
I had an EE that never was able to put a shell on a single egg and a second that only did enough shell to look like a shell.
I would still try reducing treats and increasing calcium.
It can't hurt.

I was going with the 10% of feed rule. Then running the numbers....

I was doing the math with Suzi’s numbers. 4 cups in 2 pans was 8 cups. 2-3 times a week. I multiplies 8x2.5=20. 20 cup divided 7 days is 2.857. Divide by 9 girls is 0.317. Roughly 1/3 of a cup.

At 2.5 cups 4 days a week. 10 cups by 7 days 1.428. Divided by 9 girls is 0.158.

I guess the question is how many cups of feed should each chicken get a day. Multiply that by number of chickens. Then 10% of that many cups.

I currently have 22 chickens in the Main Run. They each eat 1/2C of fermented feed per day, which makes their total feed amount 11 cups. 10% of that 11 cups would be ABOUT 1 and 1/8th cup of *snacks*.

We don't count bales of hay or straw, slices of pressed, dried alfalfa or grass clippings as *snacks*, as they are somethings they would have free range to while (you guessed it) free ranging however, things like BOSS, fruits, mealworms, corn/cracked corn and scratch grains are all considered snacks, which we give sparingly.

OH, they also get eggs fed back to them on a daily basis, but usually between 3-6 for all 22 chickens.
