Someone posted asking about the breed/sex of their chickie. Yes, we get those a LOT... but this one just wouldn't take *the bird is too young* as an answer!!!!! Kept on and on with, *yeah, but if you were to GUESS, what would you say*.... *I understand, but what do you THINK it is?*.... dude, the bird can't be sexed yet sheesh!!!!! :barnie

Well, I've given up on the 6 eggs in the lockdown bator. :hit

I candled them, no movement and the embryos aren't even close to filling the egg. I think my buggy bator did them in. So I turned of the bator and will toss the eggs tomorrow. I'm debating doing an eggtopsy. It will be hard to see dead baby chicks.

I should be getting my Ovation tomorrow! I'll be adding more Cornish eggs to the bator and candling the mixed flock and other Cornish eggs. I'll be leaving the Chocolate Orpington eggs alone because I only set them yesterday. I'll have to do some shuffling if I'm going to use my less buggy bator for hatching. I have 9 Cornish eggs (which are probably mostly infertile), 6 mixed flock eggs, and a dozen of the Chocolate Orp/Banty Cochin eggs in there now. Even if all the Cornish eggs go off, it will be hard to add new Cornish eggs to the 24 CO eggs when it comes time to hatch the 6 mixed flock eggs since my Ovation only holds 28 eggs...... I'm already wishing that I sprung for the 56 instead of the 28.

So I'm having trouble with B!tch Pudding. My year old Wheaten Americauna. She earned that name when I first brought the chicks out to the coop. She seemed to take joy in tormenting them. I thought it was because she was one of the youngest birds until then, so showing them she's boss. Thinking when they got bigger she'd be nicer. She went into molt and things settled down.
Chicks are full size now and she's as nasty as ever. I've seen her grab Frannie my BC by the comb and try to drag her off. She suddenly beats on the Gimpy Girl mercilessly. I heard screaming and found Cinnamon attempting to run from her. B!tch Pudding had her by the wing and wouldn't let go.
I've been in a pecking match with her trying to protect other hens. The boys--cockerals--seem to avoid her.
What's going on!?!

The Milk Drinker isn't going to sleep....

He didn't go down for his nap until almost 5pm. I had DH wake him at 7:30pm. He normally goes down for his nap between 1 and 3 pm.

I really hope he goes to bed soon. I need my sleep, badly.
Sorry Rae! Can't you put him in bed?
