Official Squatch Watchers

Ok, your fashion conversation is waaaaaaaaay too complicated. For me, it's jeans and a polo, jeans and a work shirt or jeans and a flannel. I have two pairs of shoes and two pairs of boots. We won't talk about the closet full of suits, dress shirts, and ties. And the few uniforms that are still there as required (dress mess, 1A, and BDUs, and yes corefams and jump boots to go with them).

Well, using the escape artists worked. They were out in 30 minutes or less, but showed me the escape route... So now it's plugged and they are back in there. We'll test overnight. Had my butt kicked putting chickens back in their sell. If this works overnight, I'll move them to the other sell tomorrow. If you're wondering why I have barnyard mixes it's because I had a silver spangled hamburg roo who "never left the bachelor pad" yet I have Dell/hamburg crosses and IL/Hamburg crosses. Sneaky little boogers....

@Smuvers Farm chipmunk is definitely female silver duckwing OEGB. My sweetest chickens, by far. The black I also guess cochin, but I'm going to say mottled. The 2 yellows could be buff cochins? I think lots of varieties start as yellow, so its hard to guess.
The OEGB is female because of the dark brown V on her head and prominent stripes. It's a silver duckwing thing. The males hatch lighter and their lines are more crooked-like. (technical term....crooked-like) :D

Nice scores!! :clap

Oh, wing sexing only works on certain breeds. And some fast feathering wings are male, some are female. All depends on the breed.

We had pet mice growing up. Two separate 10 gallon fish tanks set side by side. One was a male the other was a female.
Sneaky little buggers—climbed the water bottle, shimmied around the top of the tanks, and climbed down the other water bottle.
Did you know mice can have three liters of babies from one evening of fun? We went from two mice to thirty very quickly.

Hello you beautiful squatchers you!!!!! I hope everyone one is having a good weekend.

Cappy so very sorry to hear you are going through this kind of medical scare. Fingers and toes are crossed, prayers said, good Karma sent. :hugs Apryl this goes for you and your giant human too. :hugs

Also, to everyone (and man it really seems like it is EVERYONE) with new little lives to treasure (puppy, chickie, bunny etc) thank you for all the photo sharing! It always brightens my day. :love

And now my friends I need your advice. In the last month or so I have started to notice some aggression issues in my little flock. To recap, I have six hens: 3 LF cochins, 1 Speckled Sussex, 2 ISA browns. The cochins and SS are 11 months old and the ISAs are about a year and a half old. They have been living together as one flock since the end of summer (2017).

Problems:
-My white cochin is bullying my barred cochin.
-My ISAs are bullying my barred cochin.
-One ISA (Ana) is pulling feathers from all five other flock members.

The bullying is happen both during free range time and in the coop so I don't think it is purely a space issue.

The barred cochin is currently in her own little adjoining coop (see but no touch) while she puts some healthy weight back on. But she cannot stay there forever and it does nothing to stop the feather issues happening in the main flock.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I know cutting down to just the three nice hens would probably fix this...but it would also kill egg production, so I am keeping that option as a last resort. Also, is it ok to rehome bullies? Would they maybe do better in another flock? Maybe one with a rooster?

Any advice welcome! I always prefer asking you all—my friends—whenever I need advice. And there, I even threw in some em dashes as a bribe :D
