Official Squatch Watchers

Glad to hear I’m
Not the only one who makes things when DH is out of town.
It’s salmon here.
He hates it.
I love it.
I cook it on the grill on a soaked cedar plank with lemon slices butter and dill on it.

Also as much as I love Brussels sprouts, one of my friend makes a salad from them sliced very thin on a mandolin. Add pecans and cranberries, dressed with lemon juice and olive oil.
Dear god it rips my stomach up. Just cannot digest them raw aparently ...
We have a hard time digesting raw vegetables. Humans do not have the digestive system for them. We do much better with cooked vegetables. Gorillas and apes can digest them and is why they have huge stomachs!

There is a series called cooked on Netflix that has an episode on the subject

I’ll have to look for that.
Maybe that’s why everybody on a raw food diet at Whole Foods looks so gaunt and angry in the parking lot. :lau:gig:gig:gig

People get some odd ideas! The documentary explains why we have to cook things. A lot of it has to do with releasing the energy in the food. An example is grains which is another thing we do not digest much or well when it is not cooked.

That's the reason so many fad diets have a butt load of raw stuff. It takes more energy to digest it than it releases it, but you're still eating, so you technically aren't starving yourself, so it's perfectly healthy, blah blah blah.
Yep!

You chew and eat a lot but are still hungry LOL And you mess up your bio gut flora

Still battling the cold. As a matter of fact, all 3 of us are sitting here snorting and coughing. I had a big weekend at the Nashville Tin Pan festive, I didn’t feel great, but made it through. Hubby and son helped host a camp for Boy Scouts... in the pouring rain and freezing cold.

I need to make decisions about my 3 Roosters. I have 11 hens and 3 roosters. I have the bantam white cochin, who is a great little rooster, but skiddish. I have black Silkie rooster who had no swag and all the girls run from him except the other silkies. Then i have a young easter egger with hormones and starting to crow.
First, I don’t need 1, much less 3. The cochin is the clear leader, but the silkie loves me! The EE is still young with hormones raging. I just don’t know what to do!

If you keep one, I'd keep the one you like the most. The girls will grow to like him if he's there. Unless you plan on breeding, in that case, pick the one you'd like to breed your girls with. I kept Willie b/c I loved him & I kept Odin over Steve b/c Steve was HUGE and I worried he'd hurt my girls when mating... Plus he was a little overzealous and literally chased the girls around where as Odin at least tried to woo them a bit before jumping on them.

Hopefully you can rehome the ones you do not want

I am afraid that is not possible. I had a few deaths and the one chicken I sent to the vet appeared to have Merek’s.

That is kind of what I am leaning towards. Out of all the breeds I got in the fall, surprisingly I love the Silkies the best. My bantam cochins are pretty, but are mean girls. I have 1 Ameraucana that turned out to be a sweetheart. All 3 boys are after the white silkie and seem to want to be last (insert rolling eyes). 2 boys are separated for the day.

The male Silkie is so pitiful with his moves. He literally has no game!! Hahaha!

It seems the Easter Egger is causing the fuss and tormenting the girls. Sigh. He is youngest. Just thinking out loud.
