Weird chicken thing going on here. :(

My smallest Cemani, Dobby (the stunted one that had almost died of dry pox when I got her) has a twisted neck and is weak. I separated her in a hospital cage and fed her a scrambled egg and some mealworms; she scarfed them down but doesn't want to eat her regular food. I syringed her a little Nutridrench and water. She had some watery green diarrhea before, and just now had some soft brown hellacious smelling poop.

I'm thinking Marek's, aspergillosis (it's been raining like crazy here for the last month and everything is soaking wet, moldy, and gross) or lymphoid leukosis.

I'm just gonna see how she does. If I have to put her down I got some starting fluid, after my horrible cervical dislocation experience with Mini I could never attempt that again. It's either gas of some sort or go to the vet.

I'm not really expecting her to pull through, but I did get her through the pox and I thought for sure she was gonna die then, so we'll see. Fortunately, she's not one of my favorite chooks, not to sound mean, so I won't be devastated if she goes, but I will be sad.

Apryl, I'm really sorry about Nugget. That sucks. :hit

Ohhh boy, it begins....its humpin season. Cookie runs up grabs my pants leg...humpin. I pick him up he grabs my arm skin...still just swinging his little legs air humpin. Got his little comb between my fingers pulled his head up looked him in the eyes, he let out this shocked little whaaak noise and came back to reality. My boys never have ANY game WHAT SO EVER. :lau Totally unrelated, but Cookie is faaaat.

I am so incredibly sorry.

I would get her a couple little chicks if possible.
I found the little buggers fit through chicken wire until they were over a week old.

One thing that an old friend of mine had happen.....gross but true by the way....

They had 20+ eggs hatch in a 24 hour period. The chicks can fit through chicken wire. As the chicks wandered about the other hens nabbed and ate every single one.

I really hope that didn't happen to nugget. :hugs
Another reason to use hardware cloth. It sucks to lose littles. Sorry about your loss.

Oh these weren't mine.
They were my old friends birds.

This was also decades ago......before there was a BYC to learn from.

Yes hardware cloth or 1x2 bunny wire would have been better.
