Today was crazy. I prepped the field for moving the chickens after we got home from church. I found it was cooler to wear a light colored long sleeve shirt than just my tank top.
My mom bought a kiddie pool for the Milk Drinker today. We combined it with a slide and he had GREAT fun for about an hour this afternoon. We moved a canopy over the pool so he could have fun without getting too much sun. He even had a little visitor that kept landing on him.
After dinner, we moved the chickens down the field. While moving the fence, I found a 3 ft snake stuck in the chick netting I have at the bottom of my electric Poultry Net. We had to cut the poor thing free. I'm surprised the snake didn't get eaten. One of my Dark Cornish girls has gone broody. So I gave her her own apartment inside their run using... snow fencing, and zip ties!
At dusk, I noticed my FIL was outside, trying to shoo the chickens into their mobile coops and he wasn't having much success. Most of the Cochin chicks were refusing to go in their coop. I opened their coop lid and found that most of my leghorns had gone to roost in there. I pull them out and chase them towards their coop. It took a while, but we put them to bed.
That's what I've been up to today!
