Bite your tongueIt’s going to be a miserable summer. Thank God for winter
awwww so sweetI was gone most of the day today. I got home and went to close the chickens for the night. I get closer and see a dark colored chicken in the run just outside the pop door. I figured it was one of the Cuckoo Marans, they like to stay out late. (Teenagers) As I get closer I see it’s my tiny momma! I’m of course thinking the worst. One of the others got in to the broody area and chased her off. The chicks are dead.... my mind is racing as I run to the door of the run to get in. I get over to momma and see two little heads peek out. But where are the rest? They can sneak through the fence outside. They weren’t suppose to be out yet. I pick up momma and all 7 little fuzz butts fall out!
No idea how they all got out of the broody area. Why they were out either. I sat in the coop over an hour yesterday for some supervised time out of their area. They didn’t leave once for even 5 minuets.
So proud of my tiny first time momma!![]()
He’s in Texas. They don’t have real winter. He knows not of what he speaks.Bite your tongue
Well I caved and added a buff, not an orphington though due to the hyper broodiness I got a buff brahma. Same color, less broody, big enough to just sit on any trouble plus iv'e never had one so new experience. So Sallie is going to be a big girl lol! I thought I lost Early last night. I went to coop everybody and couldn't find him, I looked EVERYWHERE! Finally as I was shutting the coop I guess he heard the door and started panic peeping, he was in my berry bed in a hole. He was saturated in wet potting soil and couldn't get out. Needless to say I was really happy to see the dork.![]()
funny now but so glad you heard him
Buff brahmas are adorable! They're soooo friendly!!!
