Cardboard is wonderful! Give me that, duct tape, and zip ties and I am set ;) Sadly, Bubbles was a bit slower to appreciate the magic of cardboard. I would think she was all settled in for the night, safe behind her little partition, then suddenly she would fling herself right into the middle of the other roosting hens :he That went about as well as you might expect. Oh well, she got it eventually

Glad you finally got those chickens to take their meds!!! Hope you can convince Lulu to follow suit soon :barnie

So on a kinda but not really TV-related subject, I have a new favorite "program" on chicken TV. I call it "Bubbles and her babies go to roost." It is a comedy. The funniest I have ever seen lol, so of course I must attempt to describe it to my friends.

As you know, my momma hen weaned her three chicks about a week and a half ago. I was very sad at the time but things have been going very well—everyone is very healthy and generally getting along. Anyways, when Bubbles stopped mothering the babies, she went back to roosting in the main coop. The other hens are still a bit hostile to her but there is an unused roost bar she can use and I set up a little cardboard barrier to shield her from view a bit and prevent the others from harassing her (Thanks for that idea @Chickassan!)

Moving back to the big coop earned Bubbles approximately three nights of peaceful sleep. Then, the babies discovered where she had gone. They also realized there was plenty of room on the roost bar for them. Now, every night, there is a 30 minute comedy show in which the babies cry non-stop while battling each other to see who can get closest to mom. This probably sounds a bit sad but it isn't: it is hilarious. It is like the chicken version of every family road trip ever taken. "Mom, why does she get to be next to you? Mom, I want to be under your wing too! Mom, he bit me! MOOOOMMMM!" :lau Bubbles tries to escape by moving back and forth on the bar. She even tried (lightly) pecking them to get them to go away. It has absolutely no effect—they just keep snuggling closer to her. I missed last night's episode but hubby reported back that when he went to close up the coop, he found Bubbles resignedly perching on her bar, with a pullet crammed under each wing, and Roux sitting on her back :lau She eventually managed to buck Roux off of her but the girls were like little barnacles and stayed put. Roux eventually gave up and settled for smashing in next to one of his sisters and that was all for the night. Chicken TV man. Best. Thing. Ever.
There’s a children’s story if I ever heard one!

View attachment 1429177 Good morning everyone have a good day:frow

I think puppy is cute!

I want to mush his cute little mushy face while trying to avoid the most likely overly happy puppy tongue.

<<saying this in my best granny voice>>

Who has the mushiest sweetest little mushy face? You do of course. What a good puppy!
Mushy mushy mushy.

It takes a little bit for them to get what you're doing. For a long time Hubs thought I was babying Hobo by blocking her off, I showed him finally I wasn't protecting Hobo I was protecting everybody else.:lau As for Lulu, i'll get her i'm just going to have to dip some worms in dewormer or shove it in a blueberry. She's obviously become too high brow for bread.:)
