@staceyj @Chickassan Count me in! I may not have technical in laws but the ex’s family was nutty! Both sides of it. I’ll just say his Mom married a boyfriend after she sent him to jail.

Was thinking WW 4’ tall then 2’-3’ HW cloth. But I’m thinking it will be easier to bend the WW for the apron if I run it the other way. But that would make more seams...
I could overlap the 4’ wide sections of WW for the apron.
Does that sound like it will work? 4’ tall enough? Still plan on using the netting over carport frames. 2’ or 3’ HW cloth?
On a budget but trying to make an extremely predator resistant if not predator proof run.

Not sure exactly what kinds of predators. I would think the usual raccoon, opossum, skunk, maybe fox or coyote. More then likely flying predators too. Hawks/owls. Mink can live in the area and there have even been bear sightings though not close by the house. So focusing on climbing, digging and flying.I found the most critical thing was to know my predators. Welded wire for the apron will last a long long time.
I had that originally then used chicken wire when we redid the coop and run. One side is planted thick with sumac as it has a ton of shallow tough roots. The north is thick with lilacs, also tons of roots. The west has chicken wire and concrete steppers. No dig ins ever. It's going on 6 years of that set up now.
My predators tend to be coons, fox, hawks and cats. The cats are ones people let out of the house. They are more of an annoyance than threat.
Netting just gives you a false sense of security. Even chicken wire is better, but it will rust out and need replacing. I use welded wire over the top.Was thinking WW 4’ tall then 2’-3’ HW cloth. My netting has been good. I've had no losses using it.Netting just gives you a false sense of security. Even chicken wire is better, but it will rust out and need replacing. I use welded wire over the top.
Are there raccoons? Netting should protect against hawks but not raccoons. You likely have a raccoon proof coop that they go into at night. My netting has been good. I've had no losses using it.
Here too. But that cooking kind of rain. Pours for a while, the sun comes out, then it gets dark and pours again.Up early to go to the Dr. It is still pouring rain!![]()
