She's fine, i'm letting them stay out until 7 and she is jumping and flapping more than any of the others. I will just have to cup her with both hands from now on, not dignified at all but it has to be that way lol! I also need a way to convince them junebugs aren't killing machines. Iv'e ran out to check on squeals at least 3 times and its been a junebug.:caf

Does gleet smell like va jay jay? Marlene is smelling a little more "ladylike" than a hen should. Sorry there aren't many family freindly words for the aroma going on. She looks a little squishy back there too. It is yeast correct? Soooo do I visit the forbidden grocery store isle for some monistat? I should know this stuff but this is my first yeasty girl. Tried to get a pic but it kept winking and she kept moving.:barnie

You can try things before the monistat.

Usually the issue comes from a crop problem. Slow or sluggish. Not getting enough grit. Recent anti biotics---when most things that chickens have wrong with them are viruses...The crop is full of digestive bacteria so if you use monistat, you should give her some yogurt for a week or so

This article is not vent gleet

If she smells "yeasty" and is messy I would treat her. If she needs a cleaning (which I recommend) it's the standard epsom salt soak. Then yes monistat is the treatment.

Do you use ACV in the water? Is she laying still?
I have read a lot of suspected gleet threads. Sadly inernal laying or egg yolk peritonitis can have similar symptoms.

Yes! Vent Gleet will nearly always have a crop issue. If there is no crop issue it could be EYP

Ok Marlene is a walking disaster she is still laying but she's the one that lays those giant eggs so regulary and big softies pretty often too. I really don't get many normies out of her. She is almost 3 so she has been laying for quite a bit. Her croup is fine, I felt and smelt nothing weird happening but I will check again in the morning. She is molting right now. I'm going to watch both ends, she has had croup issues in the past and iv'e had to fish more eggshells out of her tukus than i'd like to remember. Oh i'm not looking forward to batheing that woman.

Even my meanies calm down in warm water. I use a deep Rubbermaid container so they cannot see a forward launch way out. Then of course a second one ready for the rinse cycle.

I don't envy your task. They can be real taters about it.

She is nowhere NEAR this funky, i'd be flippin out over that! It is a slight uptick in fanny humidity. I just try to pay attention and she's just "off" even for her. :)

I would go with the yogurt then and make sure she is getting grit
