Iv'e got levels going on now so she dosen't have to just drop, or she can use the ramps whatever floats her boat. So far the only dummy that wants to jump out is Cookie but when he gets fatter I bet he will stop. Eveything is pretty wide on the new side of the coop for those fat faverolles so she'll probably be ok. :)
They don't all get that huge. Jazzy will do a straight drop from the roost to the floor too. She's always the last one down. I make it inside before she gets down.

My Buff brahma only got to 8#. She was sweet and small(ish).

Your Sallie will want to roost with her buddies. If she can get up to where they are she will. I keep lower roosts to prevent leg injuries.

She'll do great. She has a very caring and fun owner after all.
Just wait til she is lumbering around the yard! Mine actually have thigh quakes.

I can't wait i'm already giggling at her chunky little legs and all those feet feathers! This whole brood is so weird I can't wait to let them go be chickens just so I can watch.:)

My fruit trees slowly died, THEN I found out that black walnut roots don't stop at the tree canopy, they go as tall as the tree and farther. :barnie I have dozens of black walnut trees and the roots will keep letting off juglone as they rot, so no fruit trees for me. Black raspberries grow fine so that is my fruit
Did you plant the black walnuts?

I watched them rip a walnut orchard out here---when I say rip I mean rip! They dug down what looked like 10 to 20 feet!

We were going to muir woods today on the coast here in California. We were almost there when we found out they only allow reservations for parking now!

We went to Muir Beach instead! and hiked up a trail to a ridge over the beach

There was a surf camp for kids today

Ugh, i'm forever busting my butt on black walnuts! My grandma use to make me shell them out for cakes sooo nasty! From what i'm seeing out of Sallie brahmas should be ok with anything that won't beat them up or is too slow to get out of the way. She is the slowest chicken iv'e ever had, does not hurry ever.:)
You guys make me want a brahma even more! Would they be ok with my little banty?
How comical would it be seeing those two together!

I hate the black walnut trees on the property. They are beyond messy and when they drop walnuts on the roof in clumps it sounds like a parachuter crashed landed on the house
