Can somebody please tell this girl we aren't hatching any more babies and get out of that TATERING bad nest! I got a spider in my shirt this morning booting her off and here she is back again. :barnieView attachment 1524902

I see you lookin crazy chicken! Get OUT of that dang bad nest for crying out loud! No more babies this year!!
Your human did NOT find the spider funny either so stop giggling about it!

Not thinking she will listen to me but worth a shot.

Yup.
Can’t seem to get a handle on this problem.
Vets are out of ideas and starting to throw out scary words like “hmmmm maybe it’s nocardiosis...” followed by a lot of these
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
They are thinking that the 2 tiny scabs he had on his neck was a littermate bite/mysterious puncture wound that “inoculated” him with some obscure bacteria.

They wanted to refer me to NCState Vet School (2.5 hrs from here) but when they called, they are booked out til the end of November.

Supposedly there’s 1 good vet. dermatologist who may/may not still work at the referral clinic in Cary, NC (2 hrs from here) they are going to check on this and get back to me.

Next possible step is multiple full thickness biopsies under general to send off for various testing.
She’s working me up an estimate and emailing it to me.

I am feeling so frustrated and dreading talking to DH about it tonight.

At some point he’ll probably notice the cat’s neck is naked (ya think?) and he’ll remember we had an appointment today. Then he’ll ask how much I spent today. Ugh.

The food news is he’s growing like a weed, has a great appetite and kicks the dogs butts. He is my snuggle buddy.

I love this kitten.
Poor Kitty!

Thank you! Anything is worth a shot. She dosen't even like babies, just wants to hatch them and peck them. Dang mommy dearest hen.:caf

Stacey,
Is he having an all over skin reaction?

I would like to see pics as well. I have had way to many foster kitties......various issues always.
No. Right now it back just on his neck area.
They are raised but flat disc shaped nodules of varied sizes.
Subdermal, and by that I mean even when shaved, it’s palpable but still sort of invisible unless you look at it from an oblique angle.
Started on his right front chest/neck then it spread upward to his chin (but not chin acne) and downward to his sternum then wrapped upward and met over his shoulder blades. Easy to feel when you sort of pinch his skin and roll it between your fingers.

Good pictures!!

I assume they drew blood. Nocardiosis should show up in skin scrapings, UA, and bloodwork...... His bumps don't look like any of the infection pics I have looked at...... They look more like abcesses....... Still reading up.
Your pictures certainly help.

Although the lumps LOOK like abcesses they are in odd locations and, from your description of the progression, they don't act like abcesses.

My suggestion (just a suggestion) would be to run a 3 month course of antibiotics to treat bacterial infection. I in no way think to question your trained vets.

He's a cutie! I can see why you like him. :)

Oh.... Does he dig at those areas? How's his temp?

She was for a short time.
I’m sorry to hear your story of Chrissy.
Gosh I hate mean people that do bad things to animals...may they rot in hell.
Thanks, yeah it was really hard losing her, i didn't have any pups from her before she passed. And you could not find a sweeter dog, loved everyone.
