If I believe the weather guy, we're likely going to get almost nothing from this storm, even more so now since it looks to be heading south (I'm in NE Ohio, about an hour or so from the lake). Though they keep hedging their bets saying we'll know more later this week once it makes land fall. I didn't realize you were in Wilmington.. that's the one city they keep mentioning. I really hope you guys get hit w less than what they're predicting. Stay safe! We'll be thinking about you guys!

The buffs shut down the egg operation this week and just started to shoot their feathers too.

Just make sure he doesn't follow you to the new place once you're ready to move out. That happened to my cousin. She got her own place & left her bf twice and both times he ended up moving in w/ her. He's a jerkface, but she keeps going back. At least you've got some incentive to get things taken care of faster... besides the looming winter weather.

I saw somewhere yesterday they were saying this winter was going to be warm and wet... IDK what exactly they meant but to me warm and wet means tons of snow.

Personally I don't follow that so IDK how accurate it is. So yeah.. it looks like if they're correct that means mud. lots and lots of mud. I need to cover part of my run so they can at least go outside into a less muddy section.
 
Well looking at my coop floor that was clean last night Susan will be nude even faster than I thought. She has no tail and I can see her moneymaker. I gave everybody watermelon but mostly put it out for her. She isn't one bit nice but I still feel for the girl. And ya'll the price gougeing is REAL here! That little grocery run, a whole four bags cost 149.00. I'm not kidding lol! I didn't buy anything fancy either mostly drinks and sandwich stuff. And not being mean but the other folks in the store were just "lost" no better way to put it. I hate to see it if something terrible ever does happen...jeeze.:rolleyes:

That's insane. I'm certain that price gouging is illegal and you can report them. I'd keep your receipt and if they're drastically higher than normal I'd report it:

Question for those who know better than I...
My run looks like it's getting a bit moldy, dark green patches on top of a generous layer of mud. I want to toss something in there, but I don't want to end up just covering the mold w/ something that won't integrate. So would I be better off tossing some straw in there, or pine shavings? I don't want to over do it, but something needs to be done.

Pine shavings take longer to break down.

Mine did the same thing! Looks like algae growing on the mud. In the run part that is permanent and attached to the coop I shoveled the coop into it. At this point its soggy deep litter. Where there should be lawn, and will be once I leave, I didnt do anything. It's so gross though.
 
I'd go with sand. Shavings are there forever and straw will help for a little bit but then it will get wet and slimy and you'll be slime skating "Iv'e done it lol!" Sand will soak up the funk and give some traction too.:)
