It took waaay too long for me to register you wern't talking about robots.:th
I usually object to AI, because it usually means the cockerel can't get the job done, but if he is "getting the job done" but she is rejecting his sperm.... you may have to do AI if you really want that pairing.

Naw I don't want to deal with AI... figured it was easier to move her and use other eggs...if I was breeding for show that would be different... I just breed for meat and eggs

I wasn’t home of course but all at the new house is fine. It’s sunny now. The old house was closer to being run over by the storm so I’m going to drive by there on my way to work.
The warning came and I checked the radar. The storm had already gone past it seemed. Though I did have a vision of Taterhead flying by cackling like the wicked witch of the west.
So glad. Some of those photos were insane. It went diagonal to us so we didn't get anything from it which was nice b/c it was about 20 min before my kids let out of school & they walk home. Every time we get a warning I hope that my birds are smart enough to stay inside and away from the doors so they don't get blown away. But if there's ever hail I worry that they'd be stupid and go out in the run to eat it instead of going inside for safety.

Oh no! This just popped up on one of my veterinary listservs:

Millions of chickens and thousands of pigs died in Florence in North Carolina

https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/19/us/north-carolina-florence-floods-dead-chickens-trnd/

Poor chookies and piggies...
I saw that but couldn't bring myself to read it. I did see some photos of a pig farm where there were a bunch of pigs sitting on a roof surrounded by water.. you just knew there were some (a lot) that didn't make it. It's really sad that they didn't find somewhere to take them. I mean, they had plenty of notice, & they can transport hundreds of animals at a time in semis. It's sad that they're just disposable.

This is my last post and I swear I'm closing the laptop!!!

Did any of you guys ever try this? Does it work?

That's how I had done it w/ store bought eggs & they'd peel smooth every time, but when I started getting eggs last year from my chickens it didn't work. The shell would stick and I'd get pits in the eggs. I asked on here and someone told me to put a pot of water on the stove & boil the water, after it's boiling add the eggs (use a ladle or spoon to lower them in, don't drop them or they'll crack), boil for about 15 min or so, then immediately rinse them in cold water, then crack the wide end on the side of the pan of all eggs & put them back in the water, then start peeling. 95% of the time the shell comes off cleanly.

I have to come up with a way to hide the TP....
One of those old lady plastic canvas things?

I just put my eggs in the electric water kettle start it boiling turn it off and let the residual heat finish the job. Got the kids on the roost...finally. They know i'm sick so they're messing with me. Sallie tried to eat a birthmark off my leg and made me bleed. Hobo wanted to roost with Negan which made Susan and Marlene roost on the baby side. Tucks just wanted to sleep in the grass, had to push her up the ramp I don't want to grab her she's molting bad.Bunch of taterheads! I told them if they don't behave i'm trading them for a turkey. The rooster is the only one that behaved himself, that is nuts! He's all ratty and molty too so he SHOULD be king taterhead but nope just my sweet goofy boy. Oh almost forgot Lulu pecked me dead in the earhole for whatever reason. @FlyingNunFarm ...you don't get to have toilet paper if you have a cat. I'm sorry but thems the rules.:lau
I got my daughter one of those nail stamping kits for her bday and I was playing with it, one of my amberlinks kept trying to eat my fingers (again). She'd sidle up next to me acting casual, like she was just digging around in the grass for bugs, but watching my hands intently then when they stopped moving she'd go in for the kill.
I also have a tattoo on my ankle that was a forbidden treat for a while. I think most everyone who was interested had a go at it and decided that it wasn't as delicious as it looked.

I have been working a good part of the day, feeding, watering and collecting eggs. I need to go out and collect the rest of the quail eggs in a few minutes. Just need a small breather. I got the 12 foot ditch dug in front of the coop and tacked the hardware cloth on the base of the front. Then buried it and tamped it down. Next i built the door since i am tired of trying to find one. And painted it. Really not so much to be done in part one of the coop;
1) cut and install perches
2) secure the end of the coop with hardware cloth.
3) install perches in the run, fix one small spot near the tree.
4) install food and water containers, add chickens.
5) but i have to secure the other door and window first because the coop divider is just hardware cloth so i can't trust it.
Time to go make another carrying cage. Have a great night.
I like how you put 'add chickens' on the list.

Youtube is super easy! Go to youtube, sign up and on a computer click on the little camera symbol in the top right corner, then upload video. On a phone you tap on the little head icon to the right, the the the up arrow on the right (towards the middle of the screen). Once it's uploaded you have to set the privacy for the video & there's a link to share. The world needs more cute animal videos.
