I'm usually a little faster, but I was WORN OUT by time we got started slaughtering at 4:30. We got the scalder going at 3:15 and it took 1 hr and 15 min to get to temp. I was trying not to overheat the water because that is almost worse than not having it hot enough. I'll be glad to get back to power washing the deck tomorrow. I prefer jobs that aren't time sensitive.

Turns out we aren't going to church today. The Milk Drinker is all stuffed up and isn't quite his normal self. Since we would be riding with my SIL since our vehicle is down, I don't want to risk him puking all over her car.

I would take it as a hint to buy some POL pullets ;)
Haha. Omg I WISH, but I’m trying to at least be “partially” in compliance with the county.
I’m 1 under the max of a measly 5 which I realize in chicken math it could possible mean I need to ADD 5 to get to the correct number , but I’m still breaking the HOA rules by having them at all, so I guess I’m gonna have to “hold” where I am unless one of you wants to drop by and swing a couple of girls over the top of my fence...

Morning all :frow

Thanks! After supper i finished the quail duplex , and started assembling the new brooder i am building. As i was stapling the wire on my pneumatic stapler quit. Again. I swear i have worn out 6 of them! They just don't work like they used to.
Anyway, i nailed the hardware cloth on with poultry staples so the bottom is done. When i go back out to the work shop at 10 pm i will work on assembly more. Those chicks are growing like weeds!

Cappy I've given up on staples, now I use drywall screws and fender washers. And be careful out there...

Ok builders— question. I’ll try to explain the situation but it’s a little difficult.
I’m using sheeting to cover the walls outside of the coop. It will need painted but not planning on siding it. I got windows to put in. Original plan was put windows on framing and use sheeting to cover the nailing flange. Working late and a little to much, framed in a window then thought “Put the sheeting up- then cut the opening. Way easier!” So did that with a sheet then realized I can’t secure the window to the frame. Where the nailing flange should go is now covered. Duh!

So now I have a couple of options....
Try to remove the sheeting without totally killing it.
Put the windows in backwards. (My least favorite of the options.)
Put the window over the sheeting like you would if you were going to side the building and cover the nailing flange with trim boards.

The last one would probably look the best but I’m not sure if that would compromise the weather proofing of the window.

Thoughts? Ideas? Laughs?

Pictures might help. I haven't had any caffeine yet.
