I hope the recovery goes well!Morning all. I'm off work til Nov 5th. Had carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand yesterday and I'm getting the right one done in 2 weeks. Its going to drive me crazy being off and not being able to do anything.

Agreed! And take a snack.Be careful out there, if you go alone, make sure to wear something bright and check your phone to make sure it keeps signal and such. Let somebody know exactly which way you plan to go. Don’t want you getting hurt or lost!
I've never been down with an " injury" before. I've only ever been off work with illness, and feeling too crappy to want to do anything. So feeling fine ( except for the hand pain) is frustrating. I want to and have to do so many projects but just can't do them. I'm not good at sitting still .How are you doing thus far Suzi?
I have heard being incapacitated like that is frustrating at best and infuriating other times.
Just having my left thumb end cut off made me crazy with what I couldn't do.
You have my sincerest hopes for a fast recovery and long lasting good results.
Thank youI hope the recovery goes well!
Well hopefully that won't be the case here. I was getting to the point where I wasn't able physically to do my job without alot of pain. My job requires a lot of keyboard use and signature signing and writing in general so I needed to do something. I already have relief in my thumb. No more tingling. The other fingers are still too swollen from the surgery to tell.My brother had carpal tunnel surgery years ago, didn't help at all. Then the doctor was telling him he could make an appointment for the other hand. WTH. No way.
Is Gladys a heavy bird? Jackie started limping a little again. I think she's getting hurt jumping down from the roost. She's a dual purpose so she's pretty heavy and apparently isn't graceful on the dismount. So I stopped at the old house while out running errands.

I also brought home Gladys. It’s a condo now. She still refuses to use that leg. I’m hoping taking the weight off that leg release some tension on it. I may have to make her a hobble. Her leg is out of wack for some reason.

And $2 feeding station. Kitchen drawer organizers. One long one attached to the cage with two little ones set inside. Have another long and small one for that price too.
I insist my birthday wishes are extremely fresh and must occur at the exact time of my birth or they don't count. She can save the birthday wishes for next year- they never run out of style.
I think chickens prefer using forks. They don't have enough dexterity to use chopsticks.Question squatchy chefs:
I’m a city girl with city chickens
I’m grilling whole fish tonight.
If I were to save the cooked heads and whatnot in the fridge overnight, can the chickens have them tomorrow?
Will the bones hurt them?
(Yes they have grit)
Will I have to sit them down and explain it to them....
Or provide them with tiny little chopsticks?

I cut veggies open too. I've seen people give them whole pumpkins and I cut them up into quarters. Partially b/c I have so many birds and they will block the underlings from having any, and partially b/c the skin can be so thick. I do give them whole cabbages thoughMine have never gone for leafy greens. Even broccoli is a no. They'll eat cucumbers but only of I open them up first. They mostly want the seeds.
Sugar is the most alert she has been today. Up until today I would check on her by peaking into the laundry room from the kitchen and she was almost always sleeping. Today I look in and she's looking around and having a snack or a drink. Really Gladys needs a bigger crate but I don't have one at the moment. I may try to get them side by side. That way they can see each other and have little hen hospital parties.
i wondered if they could have cat food... I mean, I know they can eat it, but wasn't sure if it was ok for them. They certainly like it b/c Tubbs left his dish unattended and of course the chickens found it.
Same. I was thinking the little pin bones could tear through their crop. Now see I wouldn't give mine a fish bone to save my LIFE! One of those weirdos would find a way to choke on it or get jabbed in the eye or something!![]()
Someone at my work asked about if I fed my girls fish b/c he used to get eggs from a neighbor & they'd give their birds fish guts & the eggs would be gross. I'd given my girls some canned mackerel, but their eggs seemed fine. I assume it would take quite a bit of fish to make them fishy, right?I've never done it. Haven't caught a fish since I've had chickens. Gonna fix that soon. I was warning a BYCer about too much fish when this guy popped in. Over time we've become friends. But he's up in Alaska and Fish is a primary protein source for his family. We limit fish meal to 5% in our feed blends to avoid the eggs becoming fishy. Water fowl that have natural access to ponds can sometimes produce fishy tasting eggs as they're eating small fish from the pond.
Holy wow. I'm so sorry! How are you birds taking it? This reminds me, I need to get stocked up on foods. We don't get the bad stuff often, but it happens and our cupboards are getting pretty bare.It has snowed all tatering day. We are a whopping 34° now.
Imagine all day indoors with 4 dogs who are all experiencing cabin fever.
No real end in sight as the forecast has wet/snow for the next 10 days.

We go back up to highs in the upper 80s again next week

I saw a video where it showed roofs being blown off and some crazy flooding. It's so sad, and makes it even worse that they had such a short warning this time.Holy Crap!! Friday looks rough!
Got the FL family starting to check in.
One SIL's house is a goner, niece's house is missing half the roof and stepson is still up in AL like a sane person would be. No word yet from other SIL. I am pretty sure she is ok though.
I say the same things. It sucks here for it's own reason, but it's not as bad as things in other places so we stay here. This is why I live where the wind makes my skin sting. I still have skin when it's done.
No deadly earthquakes or hurricanes. No out of control wild fires. A tornado here and there but no widespread devastation. Had a flood over 10 years ago. Worst I remember in my lifetime. Pretty mild weather. I've got enough to worry about.
Happy Bday! What an awesome present! Thanks guys! Today is my birthday. I've been busy with work and the Milk Drinker today. My mom made brownies that I had warm when the MD and I went over to visit this evening. My parents are going to build the winter coop for the chickens in their garage for my present.YAY! One less thing I have to build.
I know a few people who've had it done and they've all done a lot better. My mom was find a few days after she had it done. At least they do it one at a time so you can still do things one handed.Well hopefully that won't be the case here. I was getting to the point where I wasn't able physically to do my job without alot of pain. My job requires a lot of keyboard use and signature signing and writing in general so I needed to do something. I already have relief in my thumb. No more tingling. The other fingers are still too swollen from the surgery to tell.
I am totally done with this rain. Every time i go out to do anything, it rains!
