Well I got home last night to find Gladys has thrown herself out of her sling. Still hanging by her bad leg she was sort of laying on the floor of the crate. (Cause that's gonna help!) Got her situated again and all was well.

Sugar is still alert and doing well but somehow managed to get completely out of her own sling in the night. She was laying under it when I went to the laundry room this morning. Poops are back to normal poop shape. But still unbelievably smelly.
Buy stock in paper towels people cause I'm using truck loads. I've been putting 2 sets of 2 under each girl. One for their feet to have something to stand on, the other to catch poo. I swear no sooner then I clean poo paper towel up and they poop on it again.
Also Gladys keeps tipping her waterer over. I have a chick waterer in there, up on a stand so it's easier for her to reach, its zip tied to the side of the crate-- she sticks her bad foot in it and tips it enough that it drains out! So I hobbled her legs together thinking she wouldn't be able to pull one way far forward and stick it in the dish. Nope! Refuses to stand on her good leg. Is just sitting in the sling with both legs in the air.
I may try and switch crates. Gladys is a big girl and in the sling is almost touching on all sides. Silly patients won't cooperate.

If you have a plastic coffee can, or taller sour cream container...... Those work well and are harder to tip.
Make a cut that is 2" above the bottom and goes up another 3" or so. Drill 2 sets of holes ( 4 holes total) for zip tying to the cage corner.
A pain to have to cut zips to clean BUT shouldn't need cleaned every day, just refilled.

I did that for my broody breaker and for a hospitalized bird. Worked pretty well.

Sounds like Sugar is doing much better. I am hoping having another bird close helps her in some way. You know motivational and all.

You can see the waterer in both those pictures. Its held to the side of the crate with reusable cable ties. So its looped around the jar itself then around the bars of the crate. I'd scoot her back a bit in her sling but she's so big I think she'd poop right out the back of it. That's why I thought switching who's in what crate might help.

I like the reusable ties.
I was just thinking the 2" depth would make a tip/ tilt harder for her to accomplish.

Lol. :yuckyuck
New update on the fish heads!!!!

Someone took the first bite!
And told the others it was delish!

And in ten minutes they were just skulls!
Success! :yesss:
I knew it!:p
I got some superworms in the mail for my sad lookin derps and the seller zip tied the bag shut so I had to cut it open. I bisected a whole bunch in the process of opening. I couldn't see them they were in the folds of the bag. I feel awful! I gave my victims to the porch lizards since i'd made them bite size.:he

So this is what they are. I bought them on clearance at Walmart for like $2. What I like is that they are a little stretchy so I can pull them tight and know stuff isn't moving. Also, I cut a bunch of them in half and they still work. With the arrow shaped they can be a little difficult to undo but I twist them a little and it's much easier.
I used these to hold fencing to u poles and 2 years later none have broken.

What about the kind of water bottle for a rabbit cage? Could they learn to use that?

I think the angle of the ball tip would have them making a mess still.

I think Anansi has the little cup drinkers for birds.... Kinda like nipple waterer but a shallow cup......

I like those.....never used them but they are popular at bird shows.
