SIL #1 has been pestering her for plane fare to just bop on up here!!!! She thought we might want to know BEFORE that door knock.

Hubby seems to have shut that mess down.

It would have put her here with no job, no car, no furniture etc etc etc at the start of winter!

So, something funny happened this afternoon. DH asked me if the 3 guineas at the end of the pasture were trying to get into the run, or out of it. Sure enough, 3 of the Lavenders (who are REALLY DUMB birds) were practically killing themselves trying to get back into the chicken yard. What usually happens is something startles them and they fly over the fence in panic, but don't think to fly back over. SO FIL and I went out to get them back. When I was walking up, I noticed that one of my Bantam Cochin/Chocolate Orp Splash cockerels was in the main pen trying to get back into the bachelor run.

He is the Beta rooster in the bachelors. He is a really pretty dude, but he has lots of attitude. He knows better than to challenge the Alpha in his paddock (my New Hampshire) but he used to fight all the Standard Blue/Black cockerels that were a month younger than him into submission. Today, he decided to challenge Molasses, my avatar. HE is 12 lbs of big, heavy bird. I would be surprised if this banty was 2 lbs. He got away with a bloody comb and a lesson. Molasses didn't have a scratch on him. One reason I like Molasses, is he will stand his ground, but he doesn't fight to the death. He fights until the other side learns a lesson. The Banty was pacing the fence trying to get back in the bachelor pen, while Molasses was pacing back and forth about 5 yards away making sure he was still in his place. I put him back where he belongs and he went to the far side of the paddock, as far away from Molasses as he could get.

As for the stupid guineas, I had my FIL holding a section of fence open so I could chase the guineas in without letting any chickens out. Well, as I chased them around the corner, they miraculously discovered their flight abilities and flew over the fence before getting to the open section. Dumb birds. Some people complain about not getting guineas to stay with their chickens. Mine have seemingly bonded to them.

PLEASE NOT SISTER DELORES! :hit
I had her for algebra 2 in high school and she was so mean to me.
I knew a mean Delores too! Wouldn't let her kids drink with supper, so if we ate there i didn't get a drink either. They lived next door so we saw them a lot. And she was always telling her kids lies about " no children allowed" on vacations and such. She was a piece of work.
