I’m sorry she’s having problems Sam but both those things sound manageable and I’m glad they are treating it right away instead of the darn “wait and see approach”.
Thyroid issues tend to run in families especially among women, so keep an eye on your daughters.
Thank you we will keep an eye on it hopefully she will get better soon

So Sugar took a step back. I'm not sure if it's cause I was busy for a few days or she doesn't like her new accommodations.
Pardon if I repeat myself--
Gladys was tipping her water. At a good 5+ pound she was too big to be in a sling in the smaller crate. So I switched the girls. Sugar moved to the penthouse and Gladys down a level.
I made them both spinach scrambled eggs. 20181012_094501.jpg :sick
They both refused to eat them unless fed directly from my hand. Unfortunately I didn't have time for that yesterday. So they were both left with food and water and off to work I went.
Sugar scared the taters out of me this morning. I went to the laundry room and she was out of her sling, on her back feet in the air. (Comical when I picture it now. Not so much this morning.) She was fine for days then I don't know what gets into her and she doesn't want to bend her legs. If I pick her up so her feet are not on the ground she starts jumping mid air. Feet on the ground and she's like a kid in a Johnny Jump Up. As soon as I settle her on the ground she throws both legs out stiff and flops onto her side. Then she's stuck. So today I held her in my lap (after I bathed poo off her) and fed her salmon. She didn't really want it. She seems very tired today. I massaged her crop a little, it's empty, and she burped spinach. I did situate her back in the crate in the larger sling, closer to the ground. So her legs are bent under her but she's not laying on her side.
I plan on making eggs for lunch to see if she perks up a bit.

As for Glayds--
20181010_154022.jpg You can see her right leg is forward and turned foot out.
She is a master at getting her hobbles off. I tried sports wrap...the self stick stuff vets use. She pulled it off. So I tried to straighten her leg.

That is a seriously pissed off hen! I padded a paper towel tube, cut to length, and put it between her ankles so her right leg couldn't turn. I then banded her feet to keep her legs parallel.

This is what I find. So I gave up the hobbles and just put her in the sling to take the weight off. Nope, doesn't like that either. Found her doing the splits on the floor last night. Right leg completely forward, left leg completely back. Took the sling out before she breaks her damn legs.
I sat with her yesterday and did some more examining. I can stretch and move both legs in all sorts of ways and she doesn't make a peep. I massaged her bad leg and did exercises with it. That loosened it up a bit but it still wants to go forward.
Right now I have her on a towel for traction just sitting in the crate. I banded her legs together under her body to keep them pulled back at least.
Her right foot is warm but she doesn't bend the toes. She seems to move the whole thing from the hip. I'm pretty sure she has feeling in it but there is a disconnect somewhere between that lower leg and her brain. I noticed it's like trigger leg. I can bend and manipulate it but when I let it go it wants to snap back to a certain position. The massage helped that I just don't know why it's happening. I figure if its stuck in a stiffened position it would at least be better if it were more under her. So right now that's what I'm shooting for. I'm picking up the baby aspirin and trying that too. Some anti inflammatory and massage. I'm at a loss as what else to try.

they probably shouldn't be sending young people to hang out down in Key West if they want them to stay in. Did you at least get your stuff back.
Have you got a title for your book yet? If not I have a suggestion, Confessions of a chicken lady

I did get my stuff back, eventually. It took awhile. But I was stuck (!) down there for almost a year, so it all worked out.

Yeah, no doubt. Key West was THE WORST place to send me. I fell in love with it down there, and forever until I die, that will be my favorite place in the world. I don't know how @Hope Hughes ever left it.

A big part of my heart is in that town.... :love

My book? I was gonna call it "Other Than Honorable," lol~

All this afternoons stories made me laugh til I cried.
Except sugar.
She just made me cry.
Come on girl, we want you to get strong again.

I’m going on a date with DH.
Be back after dinner.

Southport here we come!

I know!!!! Come on Sugar, we are all rooting for you!!! Get better, ASAP.:love :hugs :love

@staceyj , have fun on your date. You deserve it! Eat something expensive and delicious!

Quick pic of Fergus and 3 of her Nuggets.....

She is a fierce mom! I had to take out Olive (her co-mom) after a week because Fergus was beating her up. The babies are all doing great. I'll tell ya, Seramas seem to be hardier than people give them credit for. It's in the 50's today and they are all fine and unfazed!

Hubby took some good pics and videos, I'll post them later. We are going to the annual "Pine Barrens Jamboree" or Piney Fest, which I have never been to. DH does not want to go, but too bad. I go to all his stupid stuff I don't want to go to.

You would not believe how southern redneck this part of NJ is, lol! It's crazy, you'd swear you were far below the Mason-Dixon line. I grew up here, then left for like 20 years and came back, and it really hasn't changed that much, lol!

You are doing everything humanly possible. I hope she doesn't give up.
